kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA Jun 11, 2008 Updated: Jun 26, 2008Bottle. Amber color with a lasting fluffy near white head. Aroma is pine, floral, peach and grapefruit. Flavour has a bit of a bite. Sweet maltyness balances it out nicely. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 10, 2008 Poured a fairly standard copper color with some ruby highlights. The head was off-white, two-fingers tall and produced nice lacing. The aroma is mostly pine and floral hops with some citrus and a whiff of sugary malt. The flavor has more citrus in it along with the pine and floral. Not enough malt balance to be one of the best out there. The mouthfeel was full and the finish was dry as a bone. Enjoyable, just off-balance. BR007 (14), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Jun 7, 2008 Nice medium orange/hazy color. Love the small hop particles (?) floating around in it. Bold hop aroma citrus - grapefruit. Special thanks to Sparky27 for a wonderful trade. Hides the 10% alcohol well. Can’t get enough. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA Jun 7, 2008 thick sweet and floral - delicious. amber, clear, nice smooth lasting head. floral aroma hops, candy hop flavor. coating texture. very good. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Jun 6, 2008 So delicious!
Loads of hops, a big amber color and a lasting fluffy head. Aroma is sweet, caramel and grapefruit. Flavour has a bit more bite than most double IPAs. It isn’t as smooth as a few others I’ve tried. Very sweet, almost sticky syrupy, on the palet with a harsh bitterness in the finish.
A lovely brew. nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bomber pours a transparent, orange amber with a active, frothy, slightly off white head. Shocker, the aroma is all hops: pine resin, lemons, grapefruit. Very bitter flavor with citrus fruits, some tropical fruits. Missed the sweeter malt backing that rounds out other DIPAs. Strong, bitter finish, no hint of alcohol. This might be a little overrated for me. I like my DIPAs and I like Pizza Port, but would this hold up in a blind tasting next to Hop Slam or Dreadnaught? I don’t think so. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 2, 2008 (from notes) Very clear amber color, no sediment or haze. Nice off-white head. Crisp citrus-resin smell. Aggressive hop character all over the place with loads of tangy citrus flavor. Medium malt presence get pushed entirely to the background. Issue- quality control issues from various batches. Wind up with some very different samples of this from different bottles. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. 66cl. [<a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=51023 target= new> Courtesy of wetherel]. Unclear medium orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, orange. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (180408)
