blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA May 31, 2008 22 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass has a orange amber color and a fair amount of chunky sediment floating about. head is initially one finger and falls quickly with little lacing. aroma has sharp hops, citrus, grapefruit, pine, caramel malt, and resinous floral dry hops. mouth feel is medium heavy with heavy carbonation. flavor is certainly hop heavy but has a decent dose of malts to level it off. resinous hops, caramel malt, citrus peels and a bit of floral. very drying and finishing with biting hop and malt. it is a little darker then most iipa’s and definitely heavy handed on the hops. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 30, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at weekend of tarts afterparty. An attractive dark golden brown with a good white head. Huge American hoppage with some balancing caramel and underlying sweet malt. Nothing unusual here just a straight down the line solid double IPA. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA May 29, 2008 Pours with a thick, off-white head covering a murky reddish-orange body. Lacing comes in sheets, and there is always a thing layer of foam left accross the top. The aroma fills the room as soon as it is poured. Lots of pine and grapefruit in the aroma as well as a nice caramel malt balance. Taste is some what strong of alcohol, but not unpleasently so, there is citrus hop bitterness as well as a bit of spiceyness towards the end with a touch of malty sweetness. Creamy mouthfeel with plenty of little bubbles. This is a great DIPA, but I think I actually liked there 2nd Anniversary IIPA more! CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA May 27, 2008 Shared with my friends, DrBayern and doboy. Poured from bomber a nice hazy copper, nice foamy head. Aroma of grapefruits, pines, hops, caramel. Flavour is of the like, nice hop bomb, yet smooth and bitter at the same time. What a tremendous beer. The perfect beer to drink with good friends and family. Hop lovers delight. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 27, 2008 Bottle@SpontaneousWeekend08. Of course it has all the stuff you’d expect in a IIPA. But it’s there in a aggressive yet friendly way. Not to grassy or too bitter. Just well balanced. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA May 26, 2008 Super hazy golden coloured body with a hazy white head that stays atop for a long while. A very very potent hop flavoured aroma with citrus, grapefruit and even some pine coming from this - VERY dry hopped. Medium to full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with some good malt backbone taste and a nice spicey flavour. Aftertaste strong and potent, very nice and refreshing, even after the perfect up front taste. Overall, a nice beer - definitely one to sample if you can get your hands on it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from PlumpJack Wines in San Francisco (Mission), California on 31-March-2008, sampled on 26-May-2008. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle pours attractive copper brown with a full, frothy, two finger head. The nose is very nice with pineapple and floral aromas, along with a bit of caramel malt sweetness. The flavor has a bit more of a bite to it with the bitterness up front, fading to a malty mid, and finishing back to a mouth drying bitterness. Very nice. doboy (175), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA May 26, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008Thanks to CelticBrew for sharing with DrBayern and myself! Light copper appearance with nice lace head that held throughout the tasting.
Has a nice citrusy hop aroma that was pleasent, great mouth feel with a good bitter finish.
