sauceyhops (104), carlsbad, California, USA May 26, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with a 1 finger white head. Instant Pine and Hops aroma with undertones of citrus. Flavor is pretty damn hoppy but is matched well with the citrus notes. Nice bitter aftertaste. All around, a nice DIPA. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA May 25, 2008 Another bomber brought over by CelticBrew - It’s great to have friends like Jim, the IPA king!! !!Shared with him and Doboy on 5/23/08.
This one poured out a burnt orange with a substantial and lasting off white head that left some sticky lace. Bigtime citrus aroma with some spruce and spice thrown in the mix. Underneath, there’s a hint of caramel if you care to seek it out. Finally, an undertone of alcohol is noticeable as well.
Medium/full body and fairly lightly carbonated, bit of stickiness on the palate, but smooth drinking nonetheless. Lots of malty sweetness up front that persists into the finish, but a spicy, peppery bitterness starts to build and dries out the finish to a large extent. Very nice in all respects. ahalloin (54), Arlington, Virginia, USA May 23, 2008 What a treat it was to have this on tap at the brewery as my "walk-around" beer for the tour! Pours a dark golden with an incredibly lush head with strong lacing. The aroma was predominantly of pine sap, grass, and citrus, but in the best way possible! The flavor is much the same with an incredibly large mouthfeel. I love a good SoCal DIPA! Great stuff. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA May 22, 2008 22 ounce bottle split in pint glass. Hazy orange with alsting flat head and some lace. Pungent citrus pine hop aroma. Some ripe fruit sweetness, peach/apricot perhaps, followed by strong bracing hop bitterness. Lingering citrus peel bitterness. Full body medium carbo. Over-the -top to the point of novelty. But still enjoyable. 10%drunk (12), Auburn, Washington, USA May 20, 2008 I am starting to like port brewing more and more. This is a very good transition to summer from all the stouts I’ve been drinking this winter. I don’t usually go for the ipa’s but this one doesn’t have the bad bitter after palate. Nice hoppy taste with the big beer bang. Good job guys!!!! hombrepalo (748), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 20, 2008 Hop bomber! Thanks riversideAK for hooking me up with this Hop bomber! Cloudy copper color, very little head. Nice piney hop nose, a bit of sweet maltiness underneath. Medium bodied, pretty smooth but just a bit sticky, medium carbonation. Good hop flavor, not great but OK. Huge hop bitterness.
BuckeyeSammy (454), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 19, 2008 Grapefruit hop nose. Good ass beer. Not bitter in the least. Crisp carbonated front end, citrus hops throughout, grassy, pine. A bit syrupy. Flavors don’t linger too much. Enjoyed this on my one year Ratebeer anniversary. Did not disappoint. sleepylopes (313), New York, USA May 19, 2008 a buckeyesammy pick. great lacing and a hazy light amber. grassy and pithy and it smells a bit like a farm. the only thing lacking is the mouth feel. amassing top-notes of citrus and funk with a moderate bitter finish. was expecting more pine but it is a great concept and well executed.
