Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Shared with my friends, DrBayern and doboy. Poured from bomber a nice hazy copper, nice foamy head. Aroma of grapefruits, pines, hops, caramel. Flavour is of the like, nice hop bomb, yet smooth and bitter at the same time. What a tremendous beer. The perfect beer to drink with good friends and family. Hop lovers delight.

Bottle@SpontaneousWeekend08. Of course it has all the stuff you’d expect in a IIPA. But it’s there in a aggressive yet friendly way. Not to grassy or too bitter. Just well balanced.

Super hazy golden coloured body with a hazy white head that stays atop for a long while. A very very potent hop flavoured aroma with citrus, grapefruit and even some pine coming from this - VERY dry hopped. Medium to full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with some good malt backbone taste and a nice spicey flavour. Aftertaste strong and potent, very nice and refreshing, even after the perfect up front taste. Overall, a nice beer - definitely one to sample if you can get your hands on it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from PlumpJack Wines in San Francisco (Mission), California on 31-March-2008, sampled on 26-May-2008.

Bottle pours attractive copper brown with a full, frothy, two finger head. The nose is very nice with pineapple and floral aromas, along with a bit of caramel malt sweetness. The flavor has a bit more of a bite to it with the bitterness up front, fading to a malty mid, and finishing back to a mouth drying bitterness. Very nice.

Thanks to CelticBrew for sharing with DrBayern and myself! Light copper appearance with nice lace head that held throughout the tasting. Has a nice citrusy hop aroma that was pleasent, great mouth feel with a good bitter finish.

Pours a hazy orange with a 1 finger white head. Instant Pine and Hops aroma with undertones of citrus. Flavor is pretty damn hoppy but is matched well with the citrus notes. Nice bitter aftertaste. All around, a nice DIPA.

Another bomber brought over by CelticBrew - It’s great to have friends like Jim, the IPA king!! !!Shared with him and Doboy on 5/23/08.

This one poured out a burnt orange with a substantial and lasting off white head that left some sticky lace. Bigtime citrus aroma with some spruce and spice thrown in the mix. Underneath, there’s a hint of caramel if you care to seek it out. Finally, an undertone of alcohol is noticeable as well.

Medium/full body and fairly lightly carbonated, bit of stickiness on the palate, but smooth drinking nonetheless. Lots of malty sweetness up front that persists into the finish, but a spicy, peppery bitterness starts to build and dries out the finish to a large extent. Very nice in all respects.

What a treat it was to have this on tap at the brewery as my "walk-around" beer for the tour! Pours a dark golden with an incredibly lush head with strong lacing. The aroma was predominantly of pine sap, grass, and citrus, but in the best way possible! The flavor is much the same with an incredibly large mouthfeel. I love a good SoCal DIPA! Great stuff.
