orderofjames (6), Dana Point, California, USA does not count May 3, 2008 I’m in Hop Heaven. There is nothing bad I can say about this beer. Hopheads rejoice!!!! gsteph (263), knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 2, 2008 Hazy reddish-orange. Huge pillowy light tan head that hung around for a good while. Some sticky lace. Fresh grapefruit, some ripe mangoes, pine resin, citrus and grass with some fleeting floral notes. Flavor mainly dominated by grapefruit, lemon pith, orange peel and spruce with an abundant brown sugar and butterscotch sweetness. There is an omnipresent fruity character that shines through the astrigency. Body is medium thick and buttery soft. Maybe a little diacetyl. Finishes...bitter, but not as harsh as some other DIPA’s. Fantastic. skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands May 1, 2008 Bottled. Aroma has a lot of hop-fruitiness (mango and grapefruit) and pine. Hazy, red-orange coloured with a short head. Taste is very bitter with an enormous astringent finish. It has pine, ripe mango and some grapefruit. A bit of a non-sense brew. Every 15 minutes a new hop added... go figure... Funny artwork. Just smell this beer, don’t drink. It’s over the hop-top. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Apr 30, 2008 Bottled, from cracked kettle. Hazy orange brown color, short head, tiny particles. Aroma is very very fruity, grapefruit, pine, mango. Very bitter taste, almost astringent, hop juice, dry. Great aroma, extreme in taste. Great for a small glass, but a whole bottle for yourself is just killing. jerohen (1602), Bussum, Netherlands Apr 30, 2008 Hazy ruby coloured, chunks of yeast. Hoppy nose, very fruity, some malts, not as strong as i expected. Hoppy and fruity flavour with exploding and overwhelming bitterness in finish, which is everlasting. I’m not a big fan of the style, so this example, which is on the extreme side even for the style, is just too much for me. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a bright golden amber with a dense one-finger head that shows extremely good retention and minimal lacing. Huge fresh hops smell, like walking through a pine forest filled with grapefruits. Also got some citrus notes as well, lemon maybe and some malty sweetness in the background. Quite nice!T: Hello pine forest! Dominant piney hop flavor with a slight malt base. Also got some nice fruity notes leading to a long lasting hoppy bitterness that lingered on the tongue. Pleasant bitter, prickly thickness in the mouthfeel. It’s definitely a great example of a hoppy West Coast DIPA. Drinkability is great and I would definitely seek this out. Beerman6686 (1263), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2008 Poured a cloudy orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma of tons of hops and more hops. Flavor is also just plain hops but comp-lex because of all the different types of hops in it. good but not nearly the greatness of Hopslam. bsierra (213), Vista, California, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bomber from my boy Ryan S. at Texas liq. in Carlsbad. What can I say about this one, WOW. Sunset orange complextion with a butt load of piney hops. Taste is HEAVY hops as you would expect, lots of citrus notes and lots of hops. Here it is for you hoppies, enjoy~
