mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle in trade from Snojerk321- huge props man!!! Bottle poured into tulip- poured semi cloudy light burnt orange, medium carbonation of tiny bubbles, white ring with wisps formed on the glass for a head. Hearty aroma of various floral hops, citrus, and a caramel note. Hits the mouth with a defined wide medium body, sweetness initially gets attention but the hops come in evenly, finish has a warming burn from the hops that just keeps going- everything is very well balanced in this brew- a bit shocking since it’s a double IPA- no major hop overload, but it’s very present . Hopslam or Hop 15? Hop 15- by the gallon slapnuts!!! gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 20, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Bottle, courtesy illidurit. Pours a murky reddish brown, with a creamy Twinkee filling-colored head. Tons of lacing clings to the glass for life. Giants bales of floral hops pound the nose, with caramel, vanilla, molasses, cinnamon...wow. Flavor is full of creamy hops, and balance well with soft, sinuous malts. Caramel and vanilla rock my world, too. Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, brown sugar. This beer has a story to tell. Deliciously full-bodied, and insanely drinkable. Full of vigor and fury, yet overall, is sustained well by itself. The malts are so great here, this is what an Imperial IPA should be like: plenty of hops, but so balanced that it actually becomes fun to sit down and pick out all the nuances and subtleties involved. Wow. Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Tap @ Port Brewing, Copper color. Aroma is totally dominated by the floral bouquet of the hops. The taste is very hoppy, what do you knowwithout being overpoweringly hoppy. Very floral with just an amazing hop taste. Great beer, would buy again very soon. One of the best I have ever had. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 19, 2008 alcohol is almost too much, very grassy and chewy. the hops are super bitter. a beer that you have to work with, it’s not very refreshing. I expected to like this beer a lot more than I did. Not on of my favorite dipas. georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA Apr 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of sweet flowery hops almost like a honeysickle with a touch of orange. The taste was sweet and hoppy with a strong bite. Very interesting and complex mixture of tastes. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 16, 2008 Now this is an IIPA. Pours a cloudy honey amber with a great head that sticks around for quite a while. Aroma of hops, hops and more hops - it just hits you in the face when you lift the glass to your nose. Mostly citrus, but some floral hops in there as well. The flavor is delicious - mild notes of apricot and grapefruit along with pine and, you guessed it, hops. Thick - it just coats your mouth, and leaves a great aftertaste lingering. This is a fantastic beer, especially for hop heads. Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 16, 2008 Sample at Stone. Pours a clear deep amber color with a medium thin and somewhat fizzy white head that burns away steadily. Aroma of citrus and piney hops as well as touches of caramel and malt. Rich and flavorfully bitter with loads of hops and citrus offset by a good malty base. The finish is dry and hoppy with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Maybe suffered for sampling after Stone’s Ruination but still a very good IIPA. bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Apr 14, 2008 Bottle. Grapefruit and red berries in the somewhat medecinal hoparoma. Firm oily hop flavor, somewhat medecinal with grapefruit, lemon and red berries. This beer is malty enough, but this is overpowered by the omnipresent hops. Long oily hopbitter aftertaste with pineapple.
