Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

bomber from pizza port san clemente. aroma of citrus and grassy hops. thick and just a bit syrupy -- but in a good way. burning hopy bitter then some spice on the finish. it’s a great beer, but I had it soon after a 3floyds dreadnought... so it’s all relative.

Aroma – Huge rich IPA hop aroma with subtle spices.
Appearance – Amber in color, Clear with a thin head.
Flavor – A awesome tasting IPA with the perfect amount of Hops. This is as good as it gets for IPA’s .
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – One of the best IPA’s I have ever had. The flavor was dry with great hops the taste was not so over the top it was really drinkable and I loved it.

Pours a lightly hazy, dark orange-amber color. A large, rocky, spongy off-white head sticks around for ages, leaving craggy mountaintops of thick foam atop the brew. Thick clumps of lacing stick to the glass in random locales. The aroma screeches straight towards the nasal passages before the first drop even touches the glass. Sharp grapefruit hops, sweet orange juice, and resinous pine dominate the toasted caramel malt base. The flavor takes a turn for the more bitter, as grapefruit slices right through the other components like a knife through hot butter. Sweet orange juice rushes to the rescue, followed by buttery toffee, caramel, and some dry, toasted grains. The body is medium-full and slightly syrupy. Finishes rather bitter, though not unpleasantly so. Astringency is present when cold, but subsides almost completely as it warms. Solid IIPA, but I still prefer Port’s Wipeout offering.

On tap at the brewery. Slightly hazed ornge pour with a creamy head. A hard hop aroma. A very sweet flavor that finishes with a hop profile that is kick ass. Carbonation is great mouthfeel is solid. A soldi beer all round. A beer that really got my attention upon tasting. I had 3 samples just to make sure that I liked it as much as I did. And I did!!!!! Excellent offering.

My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev -- courtesy of toncatcher. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size white head. Aroma: Oh yeah baby, that’s very nice! Lots and lots of hops -- a wonderful medley of them (pine, citrus, spicy etc.) -- nicely backed by sweet malt, it’s simple but lovely. Flavour: If you love hops (like me!) then this beer is for you! Once again, pine, citrus and more, backed by sweet malt and with a long bitter finish. Alcohol’s very well hidden for a 10.5% beer. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Fantastic, I LOVE it!

Bottle purchased at Capone’s and shared with illinismitty at the bar-AND at the end of of the night. My notes are not very good, and that’s too bad because it I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a golden amber with nice white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine. Medium bodied bordering on a sticky texture. I get a rich toffee like malt backbone countered by piney hops, and perhaps a very faint hint of smoke esters. Nice amount of balancing sweetness. Long enjoyable, lip smacking bitter finish.

Pours a hazy large particulated amber colour. The particulates suspend with larger yeast particles clamped to the bottom of the glass. Nose of of grapefruit hops galore. From the pour it was very aromatic. Sweet malts and pine also linger. Initial taste of grapefruits that spread across the mouth incredibly. The sweet malts balance perfectly for mid palate. Finishing with bitter hops and caramel malts. Good palate duration. Some head retention. Medium body.

Clear and copper colored with a frothy, sticky head.Big grapefruit and pine aroma with some underlying juicy malt. Excellent resinous hop flavor, so smooth but so palate destroying. Great balancing malt flavor and bitterness. Low perceived alcohol. There is a small metallic note but this is otherwise a world class ale.
