fakepurseninja (773), Washington, USA Dec 1, 2007 Absolutely fantastic Hop Monument. RIch and malty with a huge lineup of hops that are sure to please hopheads everywhere - what a treat that Port brews are now available in Washington State bottle shoppes. Hops dominate but are well balanced with a rich malt backbone. Every hop component is distilled into this drink, heavy pine cone essence that is very resiny and acidic - which stings on the finish if you let is marinate on your lips, and that could be one bothersome aspect if huge Hop Bombs are not your bag. The high-ABV is well hidden and does not dominate the nose or tongue. TampaBeer (181), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2007 This is a big beer. Terrific, tantalizing aroma and wonderful flavor, so much so that the high alcohol content seems completely masked. Rated day after to best of my recollection. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 24, 2007 22 oz. bottle - pours cloidy orange with slight head; piny aromas mixing oddly with bitter hops; malty finish doesn’t hide the high alcohol content; rather disappointed given my high expectations Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Nov 24, 2007 BIG HOPS! Aroma hits you as soon as the bottle is open. Piney in nature. Lots of lingering bitterness with a finishing grapefruit taste. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bomber shared with kleyland, courtesy of alexanderj. Pours a hazy light gold with lots of floating particulate. Small, white sized head with tons of lacing. This one sticks to your glass until the end. Huge aroma of piney hops. Some grapefruit notes are lurking in the background. Initial mouthfeel is very strong, very thick, big bodied. Hops dominate the body, but the caramel flavors come through as the beer opens up. A hop head’s dream! Theis (3617), Denmark Nov 22, 2007 Bottle at "Wining & Dining Tasting" - Thanks to Sune. Cheese aroma & cheese taste - too much cheese, it ruins the beer for me. High hoppy, hop juice, grape, old sour cheese, sharp light unpleasantness. SORRY !!! yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 14, 2007 Updated: Aug 6, 2008From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 37. Pours hazy orange with a diminished white head. Aroma is sharp grapefruity and with a solid sweet maltbase. Flavour is heavy bitter with a lovely fruity hops and a liqourice sharpness cutting off the brew before the finish. Sharp bitter finish. Great.8-3-8-4-17=4.0
From tap at the brewery. Pours cloudy and golden orange with a lacing white head. Mild grapefruity and peachy aroma. Smoth and quite inviting. Dense hoppy flavour with a light fruity touch and a mild bitterness. Nicely balanced with a solid caramel malt presence and a light fruity lingering finish.8-4-8-4-16=4.0 buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Nov 13, 2007 Thanks to brock landers for trading this to me. Pours a dark, slightly hazy copper with a small off white head and sticky lacing. The aroma is wonderful. Big piney hops, ripened fruits, caramel malts. Flavor is a ball buster. Bitter sticky hops, massive pine, rich malts. The mouthfeel is thick, bitter and dryish. Did I mention that it is bitter!!!!!!!! This is a real treat. Thanks again.
