| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Poured bright amber body with a white head initially large but subsided quickly. Redolent of grapefruit, gummy bear sweetness, licorice, pine resin, strong caramel, slightly floral, and strongly alcoholic. Flavor is grapefruit, orange, caramel, raisin, pine, slightly earthy, and a very strong alcoholic finish. Not an overly heavy beer but almost astringent alcohol content makes it very unbalanced, otherwise its good. Not sure how this beat out Pliny or Boundary Bay for alpha king though. drowland (1380), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2009 The aroma about solidified that I was going to like this from the start, with citrusy hops that lead into the full fresh cone-like aroma. The flavor is fresh and hoppy with enough malt to keep it nice. The flavor hints slightly at alcohol and I’d like a little less body to bump it up in score. curly (575), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2009 Hazy dark orange decent beige head that fades soon. Aroma is bitter pine hops and molasses, smells aged and more like an American strong. Taste is bitter pine with alcohol and medium carbonation. Very bitter and barely enough malt is present to support it, also honey. Finishes with dry bitterness and alcohol through the nose. Butters (1637), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2009 The final bomber from Barrios’ Massechussetts trip. Pours a semi-hazy orange with fair ring of offwhite head. Citrusy hop profile, with lots of honey. And some alcohol spice in the flavor, but not in a burning sense. Nice, lingering resiny bitter finish. Good beer for sure, but i think this might be a touch overrated, or this bottle has a little age. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
