Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bottle. WOW! Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy, white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, pine, citrus), average yeast (sweat) with notes of apple and pear. Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity, and heavy bitterness.

This was my first Pizza Port beer thanks to Hopdog. Pours a cloudy amber with an average size white head that slightly laced the glass. Strong floral and pine aroma. Flavor is surprisingly not overly hopped. Dry hops, floral and citrus. This thing was exploding with hops, but nicely controlled and balanced.

Bottle from Beermerchants. Hazy brown, tiny film of a head. Strong aroma. Lots of grapefruity hops in the nose. Plenty of malt to play along with the hoppy kick. Lacks a little extra wow-factor. Clever, but not amazing.

Another great beer from Pizza Port. Nice amber color with tons’o-hops! Had this beer again and of course the hops mellowed out a bit. Sweet, without being the sweet malt monster these big hop beers have after aging. Sept ’04, it’s the GABF Imperial/Double IPA Silver Medal Winner. Rock on Tomme.

Thanks to SDbruboy for sending this out to me. Bottle #375. Pours a pretty copper color with a minimal off white head. WOW! Nose is citrus, pine and hops but has a sweetened characteristic about it. Wonderful stuff. Reminds me almost of a Stone Ruination. The taste is bliss! Hops, malt, and caramel notes dominate the tongue. There is a slight oily feel to the mouth and a piney bitterness but it is not overwhelming. Awesome beer and a surprisingly smooth finish. HIGHLY recommended to IPA fans!

Bottle. Brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is very well hopped, and the flavour is very deeply hopped with floral and roasted notes. Overall a very nice, very well hopped and dry beer.

22 oz bottle. Poured a hazy orange color. Head was thick and off white with good retention and lacing. Typical IIPA aroma: big malty caramel & grapefruity/perfumy hops. Unfortunately I also kept getting occasional whiffs of cheap cheese puffs. Dry on the tongue with assertive hop bitterness that strengthens gradually and lingers. There was a touch of malty sweetness at the end. A citrusy hop flavor comes out up front accompanied by modest malty caramel, apricot, and eventually crushed pine needles. The alcohol flavor was tangible and reminded of vodka somewhat. Pretty good stuff. Improved as it warmed.

Pours orange with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and hoppy. Taste is sweet and hoppy and grassy, quite nice a big hop sandwhich. Would have prob been better to have this side by side with reg hop 15 but didn’t happen.

Sampled at Lost Abbey. Really tasty double IPa with a balanced hoppy and matly flavor, lots of West Coast IPA feel as well. Great Double.
