Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

22. Thanks...uuh, I think thanks to Follish_mortal. Pours thick and slowly surging coppery dark amber, fairly cloudy, with thick orangeish tan head. Decent lacing. Humongous sweet pine, fresh squeezed citrus, and spice nose, just as the brewer promises. Fairly thick body that manages to fall just shy of syrupy--pretty amazing, that. Tingly, active carb. Huge washes of caramel undernearth tsunamis of citrus, tropical fruit, pine, and a creosote wash at the end. Truly every conceivably hop flavor in one. Great stuff.

Pours golden, very clear, with a tall white head. Big floral nose, fruity citrus hops are alive and kicken. Bitterness scrapes the palate, hops dig in on the palate, providing long lasting flavor until you find the time to brush your teeth.

On tap: Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, CA. Pine and tropical fruit in the aroma. Kind of like some Hawaiian Punch. An orange colored beer with a nice velvetty head. Initially it is very malty and fruity, it finishes with an intense pineyness on the back end. Extremely resiny and dry. God this was good.

Bottle pours dark caramel, rather murky, small off-white dishwater like head that quickly resides to just a small film, virtually no carbonation, with very fine bubbled lacing.   Aroma is quite grapefruity, with notes of caramel and hops.   A very sweet tangy hop flavor glides over the tongue when first sipped.   Surprisingly not all that bitter.   Fairly smooth for a Double IPA.   Nice body, slightly velvety mouthfeel.   The lack of carbonation probably adds to the mouthfeel.   Finishes rather sweet, caramel with a very light hop bite, and some spruce and/or pine in the aftertaste.   The 10.5% ABV is dangerously well hidden.   This one was quite a treat, a complete dessert beer!  Thanks goes out to herbjones for the trade!

On tap at The Local in San Diego. Very hazy orange with a creamsicle head that coats the glass. Ridiculously massive aroma of fruity and resinous hops. Heavy silky mouthfeel, sweet chewy malts with a crazy abundance of hoppy goodness providing an assertively bitter finish. Wow! Awesome!

Hazy amber with a reddish hue. Thin, yet lasting head. Forcefully plunge your nose into a sweet grapefruit: that's what this beer smells like. Smooth and soft palate. Sweet, rich malts are lip-smacking; they seem to complement the big hops pretty well. Much to my surprise, the multiple hops seem to tangle well together. Hoppy as hell, but not overwhelming by any means. Tasty stuff.

On tap at Lost Abbey before RBSG on 08/02/2008. Slightly hazy orange amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Big floral and citrus hop aroma. Big citrus and resiny hop flavor, very fresh. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

22oz. Bottle. Medium bitter, very hoppy aroma. Smells of hop, resin, lychee, and pine. Poured amber in color with a small khaki head that lasted throughout. Good lacing. Cloudy. Full of medium-sized particles. Flavor is heavily bitter. Tastes of hops, resin, pine, crystal malts, and a touch of grapefruit. Delicious. Medium to full body. Creamy, slightly oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. Overall, I wish the finish were dry, but this is a great Impy IPA. 10.5%ABV is very well hidden.
