Now this review makes more sense: Cloudy orange, with a nice big white head. Aroma of hops - pine & citrus - dominate. Kind of a woodsy, piney flavor, and I got a hint of rosemary, too. Mellow to the finish, with surprising alcohol bite at the end. Nuffield (2749), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 30, 2007 This was a profound experience. I hate 95% of most hop-laden beers. This one was different. Beautiful aroma--so freekin’ intense, like fresh grapefruit extract. Just so pure. Then came a rush of pine. Flavors of orange, pine, just a little sweet, really nice, with a note like candi sugar. Low bitterness. My best ever "big hop" beer? IrishBoy (2730), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2007 Thanks to footy for this - hazy copper beer, with a small ring of lace - loads of grassy, earthy hops exploding out of the glass, so well-blended that it’s hard to pick out individual types - the hop flavor is huge and aggressive, but not abrasive like many of these beers can be - very grassy, herbal, and earthy - just enough malt backbone to add complexity without making the beer sweet - she stays about as dry as she can be for the abv, which compliments the extreme bitterness - very nice. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2009 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 22 Jan 2009) Amber colour with brief, frothy, white head. Slightly hazy. Fruity, hoppy nose with resin, grapefruit and hints of rubber. Fruity, seriously hoppy taste with notes of resin, pine needles and grapefruit. Almost brutal hop character with a resinous bitterness in the finish (or rather all over the place). Above medium body. Some alcohol sweetness comes through towards the end. Truly a hop lovers delight. Lovely stuff! Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Hazy, amber colour with a great, dense head. Amazing aroma of high alpha hops such as peach, citrus, caramel, and other fruits. Great flavour of burned caramel and hops. Ends up very bitter and tasty. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2004 Updated: Jul 31, 2004(Draft & 750 ml bottle: O'Brien's in San Diego, CA) This 2IPA is superb and really more a barleywine; Malty, very sweet, high in alcohol, but balanced by a very strong hoppy bitterness with lots of grapefruit, especially in the long lasting finish; Great, hoppy nose with loads of sweet malt aroma too; Thick, sticky palate; Dark ruddy amber in color; On draft, there is a light tan head with average retention and rings of patchy lacing, but out of the bottle, there is no head, just a few large bubbles that dissipate immediately; One of Port Solana's best! Very aromatic. Huge hop notes of orange, pine, light perfume hints and mint. The amazing malt depth balances the hop monster. Has a toasted bread characteristics & buttery toffee that blend perfectly with hop notes of orange-rind, peach, and pine needles. Finish is long smooth and bitter. An outstanding and balanced IIPA.
