Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Hazy dull beige. Assertive hop, vague but with hints of peach, lemon and mandarin. Juicy, peachy hop-loaded brew. Light pale malt character, but with loads of miscellaneous tropical fruit, citrus and honey. Smooth, with a bit of a late alcohol splash.

(1/12/05) Clear amber with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, strong grapefruit, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel, herbal. Full body with very nice resin feel. (8/4/9/5/18). (1/28/04) Opaque color with off-white head. Aroma is sweet, grapefruit/pine, caramel. Taste is mild sweet, heavy grapefruit, noticeable alcohol. Medium-full body. (7/4/6/4/13). (9/6/02) Hazy amber. The aroma is pine, beautiful pine. The flavor is also pine -- it’s the essence of this beer, from start to finish. That being said, it doesn’t become overwhelming, and it’s very well-balanced. Some spiciness as well. All told, a profound experience indeed! (10/4/9/5/19)

1. From the Bottle at Tom’s Ultimate Glasgow Tasting, Blackfriars 01/12/2007 Very hoppy pine aroma. Golden coloured and a little hazy in appearance. Very hoppy with some dryness in a crisp and bitter finish. 2. Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Big hop aroma. Golden coloured and very hoppy with a pine fruit flavour. Lots of bitterness in a crisp and slightly dry finish.

Dark nut-orange color, small off-white head. Bready, citrusy hoppy aroma. Very malty, bready hoppy flavor. Notes of citrus, but mostly yeasty and alcoholic. Warming, but not kind of IPA I like, Score 4.06 seems quite overrated if judged by this bottle.

Bottle from BeerMerchants. Thanks Phil L for dropping it off. I wish I could have written OhioDads review. As he wrote everything I was about to say. I dont normally look at other ratings, but hey it was fun for once to do it. Attractive deep orange amber colour, thin off white head that lasts. Big green floral hop aroma. But it doesnt go over the top. Yes its big but not stupid. I still cant believe we have these beers in the UK. Yes its big brash but not as much as some others. Yes some alcohol heat does come through on the aroma and finish. Maybe could do with some more malts in the mouth. What is there is caramelly and tasty and certainly lasts on into the finish. The finish is slightly hot, but the hops just twist your tongue into a different dimension. Aroma is great, maybe just too hot in the mouth, and although the hop finish is excellent, the heat just takes the edge off. Still a pretty good beer though
