Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

GABF 2002: Perhaps the hoppiest experience I’ve ever had. Cloudy orange amber. Intense grassy resiny hop aroma. Strong grassy piney hop flavor. Strong bitter finish. Almost unbalanced and astringent with grassy hops. Did I say intense hop aromatics?

Pours clear golden copper with a small tan head. The aroma is very balanced.... well, maybe not - it is a hop BOMB. There is citrus, pine, pineapple, tropical fruits, soapiness and even resin on the nose. Medium / full body that is very smooth and resiny with lush soft carbonation. The flavor starts with big toasted caramel malt that is pleasant, but very overshadowed by the hearty dominant hops. They start with tropical fruits, wood, pine and citrus. The finish has pine cones, pine needles, and earthiness. Your mouth feels like it has been paintbrushed with a layer of hop resin. Thumbs up for this truly exceptional IIPA that is made for the over-the-top hophead.

Noogfest This pours with a good head over a clear amber body. Grassy hop aroma. Smooth bodied with a well hopped, balanced flavor. Very nice IIPA.

Bottle at Toms Ultimate Glasgow Tasting: Poured a copper amber color with a bubbly head. The aroma was that of pine and hops. The taste was very lively and the hops made me want more. I was super impressed with this IIPA!

Bomber. Thanks after4ever. Pours hazy copper with a lacy white head. Both the aroma and the taste have pretty much everything hops have to offer: Pine, grapefruit, flowers, resin, spice pineapple, etc. etc. The kind of beer that can make a hophead wax poetic.

draft at O’Brien’s in San Diego - Pours hazy copper with a substantial citrus hop aroma. The flavor is crazy hoppy, definitely on the hop intense side of even this style. It’s a good, crisp, strong hops, though I’d like it even more with a little better balance. It has a long, bitter finish.

22oz. bottle by way of hellbilly. Sweet, fruity, citric aroma, plenty of fresh pine and grapefruit combined with a generous amount of honeyish, toasty malts, along with lighter notes of lemon, caramel and flowers. Translucent medium amber color with a fine, off-white head that lasts, generating a thin sheet of intricate lacing. Very nicely balanced flavor profile, with a pronounced malt undercurrent providing a sweet, malty, toasty framework for the massive dosage of citric, piney, floral, fresh, grassy hop flavor and equally huge bitterness, this increasing towards the finish, blending with burst of pineapple sweetness, doughy yeast and peppery alcohol, and thereafter drying out considerably. Creamy, smooth and warming on the palate, has a thin feel to it that accentuates the resinous hop quality. Full-bodied to be sure. Nicely done.

Thanks to SamuraiArtist for this one! Pours a great orange-copper IPA hue. Full frothy head. Nose of topical fruits and warming malts. My palate was pretty beat up when I tried this but it was still quite quaffable and standout.
