Aroma loads of citrusy grapefruit hops, some lemon, pine, and a caramel background. Flavor, some pale bready malts up front with a delightful citrus and piny kick on the end. Nice bitterness, great stuff. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Pours an amber color with a big lasting creamy head. Bottle conditioned haziness. Smell is nicely hoppy with mostly pine to me. Strong nose and taste. Flavor is of crisp sharp, biting, spicy hops. Somewhat tingly and spicy almost like some fresh hop beers. Well carbonated but still a rich mouthfeel. Mostly flavors of Pine and resin, and I didn’t get a lot of refreshing citrusy or floral flavors at all. Perhaps a touch too bitter for what I was looking for on this particular night. Still really nice but drinkability wasn’t as good as on some DIPAs. radiomgb (2000), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2005 Bottle. Orange-brown in colour with a beige coloured head. The aroma was of powerful citrus hops, lots of oranges, earthy malts. The flavour was quite hoppy, some caramel malt, slight sweetness and some alcohol. Bitter, chewy mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. The finishes lingers on for a while. Almost unbalanced but the malt saved this beer. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

Aroma is a little hoppy with some malt along with hints of brandy. Very low carbonation. Lots of malt and dark fruits up front. Mostly malty and vinous up front. The hop bitterness doesn’t seem to really come into until the end of this brew. It becomes a little too sweet towards the end of the pint. Alcohol is well hidden though. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
