Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Murky mix of orange and yellow with a light head. Big grapefriut citrus hop smell with some bready malt sweetness. Smooth medium body. A lightly sweet bready malt flavor is quickly overtaken by a big tart grapefruit hop taste. Very easy drinking, hard to spot the 10% here. 11157

Tap, O’Briens. Pours a medium ruby color. No head at all. Aroma is a little hoppy with some malt along with hints of brandy. Very low carbonation. Lots of malt and dark fruits up front. Mostly malty and vinous up front. The hop bitterness doesn’t seem to really come into until the end of this brew. It becomes a little too sweet towards the end of the pint. Alcohol is well hidden though.

courtesy of fogdog. Pours gold, white head. Aroma is floral and very hoppy with notes of malts. Taste, just hops all over coupled with some fruit notes (grapefruit and citrus), and not really my cup of "hops". leaving some bitter dry finish. Overall a good complex DIPA, that should please any aficionados of hoppy beers. Re-Rate 4/14/09 enjoyed it a lot more than previously. More balanced

I thankfully have 2-22 oz. bottles of this wonderful beer courtesy of Secret Santa & The_Epeeist. Pours a cloudy orange gold with a moderately large linen white head that lasted through most of the glass and left partial lacing. Huge aroma of grapefruit and pine, but the citrus is much stronger than the pine. The flavor is equally good with a solid, strong malt backbone to support the powerful citrussy hops. The bitterness of the hops is strong, but not overwhelming, and balances well against the sweetness of the malt. This is a delicious beer, and I am very glad I have a second bottle on hand!

The look is amber, some floating sediment, nice big beige head. The smell is very hoppy, nice pine, citrus, malts, and caramel all coming in. The taste is a nice medium bitterness level, with hops, pine, citruns, malts, and caramel.

Orangish color some viz carb and an off white head thick and well laced. Thick creamy palate. Big hop aroma grass citrus and orange rind w/ some carmel hidden behind all the hop. Big blend of hops citrus, grass, a dry bitter and a nice carmel offset in a smooth finish. This was amazing. Tried this on cask at Solana Beach. Don’t know if it should be a different rating or not. But the stuff on cask was a 5 in appearance w/ huge sticky lacing everywher and I’d probably bump it to a 9 or 10 in flavor as it was just so well blended and smoothed and soo damn good.

GABF 06. Aroma is hoppy and sweet malt. Taste is sweet citrus hops, mango, etc, because of the amount of malt backbone on this beer. It seems to border on a barleywine, but still very enjoyable.

Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Light orange colour, decent head. Hoppy nose. This has one hoppy taste - totally overwhelming, in taste, nose and texture. Also some citrus, and slight spices. Good but too extreme, even for a hop lover like me.
