| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 6, 2009 22oz bottle: poured dark orange with a smallish beige head. Small head probably due to the temperature of the beer. Big caramel/pine aroma. Big bitter, sweet, massive hop taste. Bitter finish. Nice full body. I may have rated this higher back when I was a big hophead but my tastes have changed. I would have loved this even more so back in the day. Still a very nice beer. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Aroma is a big blast of the usual PNW goods. Not much else to say. Some caramel backing. Medium to heavy body, moderate to high bitterness, chewy mouthfeel, some alcohol but still very drinkable. Enjoyable. Not quite Dreadnaught, but compared to most IIPAs this is a superior example. At $5/bomber, it’s the poor man’s Dreadnaught. Good stuff.
After buying a case and getting about half way through, I will admit I’m getting really sick of this beer. 7/4/6/3/12... using original rating though. sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours gold, white head.
Aroma is floral and very hoppy with notes of malts.
Taste, just hops all over coupled with some fruit notes (grapefruit and citrus), and not really my cup of "hops". leaving some bitter dry finish. Overall a good complex DIPA, that should please any aficionados of hoppy beers.
Re-Rate 4/14/09 enjoyed it a lot more than previously. More balanced travita (1921), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2009 The look is amber, some floating sediment, nice big beige head. The smell is very hoppy, nice pine, citrus, malts, and caramel all coming in. The taste is a nice medium bitterness level, with hops, pine, citruns, malts, and caramel. tronraner (1918), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 11, 2008 Bomber, split with NachlamSie. Pours a nice orange with off-white head. The aroma is freshly-cut grapefruit, pine, and a little bit of spicy malt. The piney hops are straightfoward in the flavor, with juicy, fruity hops after that. That malts are toasty and makes the beer pleasantly dry. I like my DIPAs a bit out of balance as this one is, so I am pleased. swoopjones (1915), Buffalo, New York, USA

My choice for #1, no offense to Mountain Sun. Copper colored. Huge piney hop aroma. Extremely balanced IIPA. Sticky hops, delicious, malty balance. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Light orange colour, decent head. Hoppy nose. This has one hoppy taste - totally overwhelming, in taste, nose and texture. Also some citrus, and slight spices. Good but too extreme, even for a hop lover like me.
