9/4/9/5/18 - Bottle from Capone’s (also just got a pair from Naven - thanks!!!) Nice golden color with a small-medium head. Aroma is an incredible bouquet of freshly cut piney-citrus hops. Lots of sweetness coming through my nasal passages. Flavor is a sweet mix of citrusy-piney-floral hops with just enough malt to make it all OK. Emphasis is on the hops - this one finishes nice with great mouthfeel. This guy is really what DIPAs should strive to be. hayduke (1659), Eureka, California, USA

Huge pine hop aroma with sweet malt backbone. Big caramel malt sweetness up front with a piney resin kick in the finish. Very well done. Butters (1651), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2009 The final bomber from Barrios’ Massechussetts trip. Pours a semi-hazy orange with fair ring of offwhite head. Citrusy hop profile, with lots of honey. And some alcohol spice in the flavor, but not in a burning sense. Nice, lingering resiny bitter finish. Good beer for sure, but i think this might be a touch overrated, or this bottle has a little age. Marsiblursi (1649), Göteborg, Sweden
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 29, 2007 (Bottle, thanks, thanks THANKS WeeheavySD) Pours hop hazy copper amber. Nice off white head. Fantastic and complex hop aroma with a stable and sweet malt backbone. Sweet tones of toast, cookie, flowers, canned tomatoes, apricot, tangerine, mango and starfruit. Bitter tones of grapefruit, resiny pine, oily grass, black currant, wood and herbs. Creamy and full on the nose. Fruity and extremely hoppy flavour with a fat but clean toast backbone. Grapefruit, orange peel, resin and bitter herbs. More subtle tropical fruits. Light to medium sweet. Near full bitterness. Round, soft, velvety and smooth mouthfeel. Lingering afterbitterness with a fruity sting. Medium to full bodied. Fantastic and complex, this is a reminder of why IIPA is our favourite style. GG (1646), NorCal, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 18, 2006 Pour is a cloudy dark orange/bronze color with little head. A very strong pine aroma that also has some tropical fruitiness to it’s but not overly done. Taste was hop resin, hops, and some citrus. A very enjoyable beer. Not quite blown away by the hops as some might have reviewed, but nice and hoppy just the same. Plus it’s got a nice kick at the end with a 9.5 ABV. NachlamSie (1643), Tennessee, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Updated: Mar 11, 2008Bomber. Thanks, Wetherel. You are the man! The pour on this one is a dark orange and very cloudy. Nice head on this, it’s very tall for about 3 or 4 minutes, then dies down to a white crown that floats forever. The nose is intense. I mean, I think west coast IIPA and I think of something. . . this is it. Every piercing, crisp, biting, clean aroma I have ever associated with Pacific Northwest hops is diplayed here somewhere. Grapefruit and marijuana are right up front. But just a second whiff gleans pineapple, orange, wood, apples, caramel. . . The body is thick and sticky in a very good way. My mouth gets parched after just two or three sips. This is brutally dry and resinous with a blast of grapefruit destroying my palate and then a wash of acidic notes making my mouth its canvas and bitch. What makes this noteworthy is the brutal bitterness and sophisticated complexity while maintaining a clean profile with no off flavors. In true imperial IPA fasihon, the malts play second fiddle. I struggle to even know they’re there other than the thick mouthfeel present. I pick up a bit of melon and caramel every now and then. I put down the whole bomber easily with a big grin on my face, but I don’t know how many of these I could drink. I’d like to give it a shot one day though.

Bomber. big shout out to Tronraner for this one. Pours a murky dark orange with a white head. The aroma is every bit as ridiculous as I recalled. Hops all over the place on this one. Pine, grapefruit, pineapple, orange, all kinds of citrus, spice. It’s truly intense. The flavor narrows a bit, but come on, after that kind of aroma that isn’t saying much. The palate is pleasingly sticky then dries out with a lemony, pitty character. Man, this stuff is superb.
