Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

[Admittedly not the freshest bottle] Pours a really clear sugary looking brown/orange with a small bubbly head. Love the aroma, sugary toasted pineapple, some grapefruit and honey, light pine/resin. Sugared grapefruit first taste, some toastiness, and lots of bitter resin. Long lasting bitter finish. Medium body, sugary, with low carbonation.

Love my hops. This one is a crazy hop experience without tasting too bitter at the end. Some pine and citrus aroma as well as taste. Very Big beer. Complex even though so hoppy. Smooth and hoplicious.

750ml bottle. Hazy orange not much head. All hops aroma. All hops flavor. Clingy mouthfeel. Did not really like this one. Too much hops and nothing else.

RERATE: 750ml bottle. Amber color pour with a huge head that filled half the glass. Chunky head with lots of lacing. The aroma is heavy resin hops. The flavor is dominate by hops. The malt only appears in the finish. The malt appears more prominently as it warms. 8/4/6/3/16

RERATE: 2007 22oz bottle. Pour is a deep melon color with wisps of white on top and a ring of cream. Aroma is bitter hops with some doughy malt struggling to show itself. The flavor is all hops. The name is Hop-15 but it would be nice to have something to frame the hops, to showcase it. But I’m left wanting... 5/4/5/3/13

22 oz bomber from the Beer Yard. Pours a slightly hazy orange/red/amber with a large frothy off white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, and fresh floral hops. Medium to fuller bodied with slight alcohol showing and tons of bitterness. Flavor of pure citrus, grapefruit rind and slight alcohol. You better like hop bitterness if your gonna drink this one.

750 ml green bottle, couressy of Herbjones. Clear orange with a tannish/greenish head. American hop (Chinook???) aroma, meshed with a barley wine carmel sherry note. Malty and somewhat thick, big hop flavor and bitterness, and low carbonation. This to me is a barleywine, and an American one to boot at its finest. Big thumbs up to Herbjones for the trade!

A nice honey orange colored brew with almost no head. Aroma wafts from the glass in a sweet citrus floral. A closer sniff brought some nice grapefruit and some funkiness. Flavor is big grapefruit with that funk. The grapefruit brings a big tart bite and there is gobs of caramel but they only partially balance. A peppery spiciness adds some interesting complexity and it compliments the alcohol warming nicely. There is no carbonation noticed and the feel is medium. This is a top quality beer that has so much to offer. Great flavor and so unique and interesting!

Bottle courtesy of brentfeesh. Well depending on what part of the bottle you pour from, the appearance can either be clear copper or the murkiest shade of orange that is possible. Aroma is of hops but don’t anger me. Rather a pleasant experience. Taste is a hoppy bitter. Finishes with the sweetness of a nice IPA.

Dark amber cloudy with lots of floaty chunks. Great pineapple aroma. Fruity flavor has tons of hops without being abrasive.
