Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Pours a bright clear gold/orange with fluffy head. Bitter piney hops, resinous, grapefruit, floral, hints of spice, and bready malt. Somce caramel, and this beer is cleaner and easier to drink then expected. Very good.

I had four IPAs at O’Briens in one night and this was the highlight. Very hoppy beer in both aroma and flavor, but what made this one great was the in the background malt presence. Really brought some balance to this beer and made it great.

Draft at Stone Brewery. I think this was my favorite beer of the day. Very nice hop aroma. Flavors of pine, citrus, floral hops; quite bitter but still good tasting. Good balance etc.

Poured a cloudy orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma of tons of hops and more hops. Flavor is also just plain hops but comp-lex because of all the different types of hops in it. good but not nearly the greatness of Hopslam.

On tap in Solana Beach. Amber coloring with a tall, creamy white head. Uber-hoppy aroma is dripping of tropical fruits like papaya and mango, which is accompanied by the wonderfully citrusy hoppy note. Texture is a touch creamy with a fruity, sticky quality. Tropical fruit flavors really crowd the tongue in a pleasurable fashion, only to be washed clean with the crisp wallop of a hop finish. Leaves me licking my chops for more, while enjoying the hops tingle on the edges of my tongue.

Grassy meadow notes with orange and pineapple in the nose. hazy orange with brown in the edges and a creamy 2 finger head that settled to a dense 1/2 inch. beautiful. more sweet ripe orange in the sip with mango and passion fruit, and a swirl of bitter intensities in the finish. the solid malt foundation approaches sticky but is scrubbed down by the abrasiveness of the hops. This really is amazing.

Bottle at the “Drink for Charity” event at Rattle & Hum. Pours a hazy apricot gold with a medium white head. Pine, pineapple, vanilla, and sweety honeyed malt on the nose. Medium bodied and malty and just a balancing touch sweet. Ends with a very good grapefruit and quinine bitterness. Another one of the better ones for the day. Darn tasty. 848317

Rerated without remembering that I’d had it before: Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small white floaties and a medium sized toffee hued beige. Large pine, citrus, mango and pineapple, grapefruit aromas. Medium bodied, caramel, slightly oxidized malt, earthy hop bitterness. Slow quinine bitter finish. Very well done. 848417
