Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Draft. Dark orange in color with an off-white head. Resiny pine aromas with tons of citrus. Extremely hop forward and a bit almost harsh- the way I imagine they brewed it to be. Good bit of malt sweetness but I wouldn’t call it balanced by any stretch of the imagination. More pine flavors and orange notes. Surprisingly dry for a beer this big. Very well done.

Dark orange body, lightly hoppy nose, off-white head without much retention. Bracing bitter body with piney notes. Strong finishing bitterness. Hides alcohol well.

Deep crimson pour with healthy off white head. Deep hop aroma, with notes of rose petals, sour grapefruit, pine, grass and lemon zest. Some sweet malts come out in the body, but the hops easily overpower. Semi-sweet chocolate and some spice should be noted. Hoppy as hell, with a great drinkability and nice mouthfeel. Suprisingly little bitter in the finish - it is more sweet. Noice.

Yes. This is what an IIPA should taste like. Pours orange-gold with a rocky white head. "Freshly squeezed citrus" is the perfect description for the aroma. Lemons, oranges, grapefruit mixed with pine and grass. Crisp, clean hops right up front. Tastes as if they were picked and put right in the bottle. Grapfruit, apricot, white pepper, lemon zest all blend well with a very light malt backbone. Thick without being syrupy and very refreshing on a hot day. This was a tremendous beer.

Pours a dark amber color. Small white head. Aroma is full of hops, overloading with hops. Flavor is more hops, literally hop juice, with some sweeter creamier malt to make an attempt at balancing it out. Very much to my liking. Thanks to JCapriotti for sharing this one!

Bomber from Bullfrog in Williamsport, PA: Golden brown beneath a white head. Citrus and pine filled aroma complimented by caramel malts and apricot notes. Big tounge-coating pine needle bitterness. Lightly toasty caramel malts are present, but take a far backseat to the grapefruit like hop flavors. A tiny bit of warmth in the dry finish, but the alcohol is otherwise well hidden.

Bottle purchased at Capone’s and shared with illinismitty at the bar-AND at the end of of the night. My notes are not very good, and that’s too bad because it I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a golden amber with nice white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine. Medium bodied bordering on a sticky texture. I get a rich toffee like malt backbone countered by piney hops, and perhaps a very faint hint of smoke esters. Nice amount of balancing sweetness. Long enjoyable, lip smacking bitter finish.
