Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bottle@SpontaneousWeekend08. Of course it has all the stuff you’d expect in a IIPA. But it’s there in a aggressive yet friendly way. Not to grassy or too bitter. Just well balanced.

Draft at Pizza Port Solana Beach: Amber, intense hop nose, columbus and grapefruit, pale malts. The flavor is brisk, sweet and bitter. Loads of each. Nice IPA in the California style, better on tap than cask.

Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured hazy copper color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy sour citrus hoppy and dark fruit aroma. Medium body with dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Heavy smooth bittersweet citrus flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Draught @ Port Brewing, San Marcos. Pours an amber color with no head. Hopy and more hoppy pine needles aroma with hints of grapefruit. Sweet malty and very hoppy bitter flavor with hints of pine needles and grapefruit. Malty finish with a long bitter burning aftertaste. Very nice.

Bottle. Amber red and gold with a small head. Aromas are herbal and floral with pine. Very "green" and fresh with some woody notes. Flavours are sweet pine with lots of peppery and spicy character. Some citrus with a bitter finish. Very hoppy and very good.

Dark golden with a lasting white head. Aroma of citrus and peaches and malt caramel. Sweet malty flavour with biscuit and peach notes, a touch of tobacco. Finishing both bitter and malty.

Bottle from Capone’s. Turbid orangy copper pour with 1-finger off-white head and excellent lacing even through the repour. The aroma is huge; a mix of heavy hops, pineapple, mango, tangerine, honeydew, and caramel malt. This is perhaps the greatest beer aroma I’ve ever experienced, perhaps even rivaling Dreadnaught. The flavor is big hops and fruit, with a huge malt bill, and notes of tangerine, pineapple, mango, black pepper, and melon, in roughly that order of intensity. The palate is dense, complex, very well balanced. A smidgen more malt here would have made this a Perfecto Robusto. As it stands, it’s one of the best IIPAs, and best beers, I’ve ever quaffed.

Lightly hazed golden ale wuith a thick light moka head. Pleasant hops aroma, like a filed of hops and cloves. In mout, sweet honey malt, with nice crisp complex hops, citrus, treacle. Complex body and smooth. At EBF 2006.
