Aroma was nice...fresh, resiny citrus hops, caramel malt and a nice amounbt of pine in there as well. Flavor of resiny bitter citrus hops, bready caramel malt and pine all shine through in the bright flavor of this brew. Medium body...bready, bitter, with a light sweetness throughout...super bitter/bready finish. Awesome stuff. fakepurseninja (785), Washington, USA

RIch and malty with a huge lineup of hops that are sure to please hopheads everywhere - what a treat that Port brews are now available in Washington State bottle shoppes. Hops dominate but are well balanced with a rich malt backbone. Every hop component is distilled into this drink, heavy pine cone essence that is very resiny and acidic - which stings on the finish if you let is marinate on your lips, and that could be one bothersome aspect if huge Hop Bombs are not your bag. The high-ABV is well hidden and does not dominate the nose or tongue. riversideAK (2731), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Kind of like some Hawaiian Punch. An orange colored beer with a nice velvetty head. Initially it is very malty and fruity, it finishes with an intense pineyness on the back end. Extremely resiny and dry. God this was good. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 17, 2008 One of the best DIPA’s I’ve had. Poured a hazy orange/amber color with off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma was a bouquet of hops -- earthy, pine, grassy and citrus all living happily together. The flavor was most surprising because the hops were backed up by some impressive sweet malts. You could taste all the hop flavors lingering on the taste buds leaving a slightly sticky sweet aftertaste that was wonderful. This is one big beer that you must try! Delicious and enjoyable. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2007 A profound hop experience is right! First off, gotta give a shout out to Joey over at SouthBayDrugs& Liquors.com for sending me a heavenly box of California Dreamin.
Now the beer.
Pours a dark amber color with some reddish tones. Smell is hops. From the moment you pop the cap until the empty glass. Lots of juicy hops. There are a lot of hops in this beer, but enough malt to provide the perfect backdrop for this massive beer. Plenty of juicy, grapefruity and citrus hops come through in the taste. The mouthfeel is bitter, tongue-numbing and quite pleasant, albeit strong. This should be the West Coast hop-bomb flagship. This was very enjoyable and had no problem finishing the bomber. Wish I had more. hopson (595), Williamsville, New York, USA

Strong bitterness that is not all that well balanced against malt but I did not care. Citrus came out big time as well. Really enjoyed this, thanks to Kan. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Pours a clear tangerine with lots o’ floaties. not much head to speak of. Smell- sweet pineapple and mango goodness. a sweet sweet perfume...
Taste- sweet hops. all sorts of fragrant tropical fruit. Reminds me a lot of bell’s hop slam. Hop sweetness then turns to an acidic bitter grassy finish. Malt bill lends a solid backbone and is thick and creamy with a touch of vanilla. Carbonation is lively. Alcohol is hidden allowing it to be one helluva drinkable hop monster. Just a great DIPA, and the crazy part is that its not all that fresh and is still a perfume bottle of hops! spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
