Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Very hazy amber orange. Huge frothy white head, nice lingering. Explosive hop aroma with multiple varieties evident. Full body from crystal malt and alcohol. Sweet nose gives way to big resin bitter character. Residual sweetness and astringency in the finish. Huge hop presence is aggressively checked by the syrupy crystal malt. The real pleasure of this beer is the variety of hop flavors/aromas/textures.

750ml bottle - Hand bottled #226 - obtained in a trade with Foolish_Mortal - Thanks Brandon! - Poured copper and clear with a big puffy beige head that lingers and laces very well. Beautiful in appearance. Hoppy is an understatement for the aroma. Citrus grapefruit with an undertone of peaches and a bit of the caramel malt can be found beneath it all. Flavor goes quickly from sweet caramel malts to all c-hops then back to a nice sweet tangerine finish. Balanced very well between the sweet malts and the sharp hops. Body is nice and full but oh so smooth on this beer. Very very nice.. I enjoyed the whole bottle down to the sediment at the bottom and never noticed the 10.5% until I got out of my chair! A hophead’s dream!

Growler thanks to WeeHeavySD! Poured a deep, fiery orange with a lovely cap of off-white head. Wonderfully juicy aroma of pears and grapefruit along with sweet caramel and peppery spices.. really fills out as it warms up.. and does a great job showcasing the hoppage. In the flavor, peppery notes and pineapple bitterness rise above a sweet and toasty caramel and light fruity base.. mostly fruit at the core.. very heavy hoppage (pine, pinapple, and grapefruit) rides out the warm finish. Thick and almost syrupy on the palate with building bitterness as the drink progresses. Great stuff! Thanks Jon!

I thankfully have 2-22 oz. bottles of this wonderful beer courtesy of Secret Santa & The_Epeeist. Pours a cloudy orange gold with a moderately large linen white head that lasted through most of the glass and left partial lacing. Huge aroma of grapefruit and pine, but the citrus is much stronger than the pine. The flavor is equally good with a solid, strong malt backbone to support the powerful citrussy hops. The bitterness of the hops is strong, but not overwhelming, and balances well against the sweetness of the malt. This is a delicious beer, and I am very glad I have a second bottle on hand!

Ryan shared this bottle with me two weekends ago and I am very thankful. what you have here is another amazingly well done west coast hop bomb. Resinous describes this beer very well. It is dripping with hoppy fruit juice. Delicious.

Pours bright gold into a tulip. Fluffy white head leaves little lacing as it slowly recedes. Pine and citrus aromas. Creamy caramel, pine and citrus. Lasting bitter finish.
