This beer is hop heads dream and with the high alcohol content this beer gets on top of you quick. This is defintely one of the best double IPA’s I have ever had. I want to fill a swimming pool full of it and bathe in it. Strong hop nose, flavor, and lingering finish. This beer puts 95% of extreme IPA’s to shame. If you are true hop head you will got the end of the earth to drink this monster!!!! bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA

re-rated keg at Port Brewing tasting at the Brickskeller. i have to bump the rating: dark orange. aroma is an explosion of herbs, pine, citrus, more herbs, fruit. flavor: caramel fades immediately into pine, citrus, beautiful engrossing hop bomb. i LOVE this brew. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jun 28, 2007 This specimen pours a golden amber color w/ a modest, semi creamy froth that settles to a spattered pancake. Lacing is respectable. Nice and sticky w/ a partial canopy and a full ring. Aromas of full on gloppy malted caramel and flaming grapefruit. Full nectar w/ soft and creamy residual effers. It’s a malt bomb w/ a blistering hop profile to balance. You get your classic flavors of sweet malted caramel, leather, asprin, grapefruit, and charred citrus rind. Theres a mild sweetness that is enjoyable. Not real complex but very well balanced and the alcohol is hidden like a land mine. A strong flavored brew w/ a very generous disposition. One thing to mention is the sludge in the bottle. It’s thick. The finish is long w/ lingering citrus rind bittering. Like an asprin burn. Highly recommended. alohaC (12), San Diego/Carlsbad, California, USA

Poured into my trusty Duvel tulip glass to a beautiful 2-inch head that slowly dissipates. Just sipping the froth, you get immediate hop candy - sweet malt and hops, hops and hops. Damn, this beer smells as good I remember. Sweet citrus/grapefruit, floral and pine with perhaps a little peach and pineapple. The color - a beautiful, clean orange-ish red. Extremely smooth over the tongue and then BAM! come the fresh, wet hops. 15 varieties that meld together beautifully and are balanced by a nice caramel malt backbone. Mouthfeel is excellent with a bit of resinous hop oil and nice carbonation.Talk about a smooth drinker for a big hop-laden IIPA - I can drink this all night. Especially with the alcohol as well hidden as it is. No alcohol hotness to this one like Pliny the Younger. Just a damn near perfect San Diego IIPA. Cheers to Tomme and Josh on this latest batch - you haven’t lost your touch on this one. One of my all-time favorites. Now I fondly remember why I used to stop by Solana after work for growlers of this on a daily basis! I was bummed this stuff was still in the brite tank and not bottled when I was at the brewery last weekend, but this is one I’ll be stocking up on when it’s finally ready. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Bottle from Sparky27. Pours a dark orange/amber color. I held this up to the light and it looked like syrup, or a liquid malt extract if you are a homebrewer. It had several pieces of hops evident in the brew. Smelled like I was about to walk into a pine tree and roll in it. Had a heavy mouthfeel and went down very smooth. Seemed a little bitter at the beginning. It got much better as I continued to drink it. Had wonderful flavors of hops with a nice malt base to back it up. I need more of this stuff!!!
