Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

I had four IPAs at O’Briens in one night and this was the highlight. Very hoppy beer in both aroma and flavor, but what made this one great was the in the background malt presence. Really brought some balance to this beer and made it great.

Bottle: The best one so far on our RateBeeriansa session in San Salvador. Complex, grassy, hoppy, floral and overall just great.

Tap @ Solana. Almost clear dark amber, good head & lace. Aroma is extremely potent, resinious, piney hops, just a touch catty w rich malts in the background. Flavor is very potent hops with a serious hop burn all the way through. Nice full maltiness to balance the max hops. Alcohol is noticable. well into full bodied. Fuller body & hoppines than DFH 90. Very well made quality double IPA.

Citrusy and deep w/ hints of pine and soury fermented fruit on the nose... Big orange and hops, hints of pine, pineapple... This beer poured a cloudy orange w/ no head or lacing. The mouthfeel was light and creamy. Nice bitter to it.

Draft. Dark orange in color with an off-white head. Resiny pine aromas with tons of citrus. Extremely hop forward and a bit almost harsh- the way I imagine they brewed it to be. Good bit of malt sweetness but I wouldn’t call it balanced by any stretch of the imagination. More pine flavors and orange notes. Surprisingly dry for a beer this big. Very well done.

Thanks to DarkElf for this beer.

Shared this with the family at my and my grandmother’s birthday party. Poured a clear effervescent dark amber with a large semi-creamy off-white head. Strong aroma of clean citrusy grapefruit and piney hops, with a touch of sweetness. Taste is sweet and dense malt backbone with a hop kick that makes itself more prevalent in the finish, along with a retronasal alcohol burn. Good body. Complex, thick and tasty IIPA. As my grandfather so accurately put it, "This beer could be a meal in itself."
