Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a slightly cloudy rich copper color with a one finger off-white head that last a while. The aroma is strong and layered with citrus fruits (mostly grapefruit, some lemon and a little lime.) The flavor, like the aroma, showcases the citrus fruits, but it does not stop there--also apparent is vanilla, caramel, pine and cotton candy. All these flavors are set in a biter hops backdrop that makes for a wonderful complexity. The mouthfeel is full, smooth and creamy. The finish is long and sweet with vanilla and hops. Overall: One of the great San Diego IPA’s. Recommended.

Pours a bright golden amber with a dense one-finger head that shows extremely good retention and minimal lacing. Huge fresh hops smell, like walking through a pine forest filled with grapefruits. Also got some citrus notes as well, lemon maybe and some malty sweetness in the background. Quite nice!T: Hello pine forest! Dominant piney hop flavor with a slight malt base. Also got some nice fruity notes leading to a long lasting hoppy bitterness that lingered on the tongue. Pleasant bitter, prickly thickness in the mouthfeel. It’s definitely a great example of a hoppy West Coast DIPA. Drinkability is great and I would definitely seek this out.

Bottle pours attractive copper brown with a full, frothy, two finger head. The nose is very nice with pineapple and floral aromas, along with a bit of caramel malt sweetness. The flavor has a bit more of a bite to it with the bitterness up front, fading to a malty mid, and finishing back to a mouth drying bitterness. Very nice.

Beautiful smell, hops in every variety, citrus, pine, spices, and fruit. Appearance, dark ruby copper golden gorgeous. Nice white head. Flavor: pine hops and spicy hops. Palate is also full bodied and very bitter, dry bitter. Great beer. I do love hops a lot and this shows off some good ones but also almost over does it on the finish.

Lots of head. Smells like a variety of fruits. I cannot believe this beer is 10% alcohol. It Is hidden better than any beer i have tasted. Goes down like a Flintsone vitamin, full of flavor. IPA’s are my favorite and this one is the best!

Clear red-orange pour with a thin white head. Sweet fruity citrus aroma with grapefruit, balanced with piny hops. Herbal and earthy. Flavor as expected. Very fruity and piny with mild sweetness. Harsh finish.

Bomber enjoyed on a warm sunny day. I have heard a lot about Pizza Port and was very excited to see this on the shelf at the liquor store. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge 3.5 finger width white frothy head. The aroma is a bit subtle for a IIPA but is very nice nonetheless. It consists of fresh hops, citrus, malts, and some pine. The taste is an excellent mix of hops, citrus and malt. This is one of the easiest IIPA’s to drink that I have had which is weird with the relatively high alcohol percentage. It finishes with a very pleasant hop bitterness. Overall an exceptional brew! I am excited to try more beer from Port!

22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Sunset orange body topped by a creamy off-white head. Nose of citrus, mango, pineapple, caramel. Deep bitterness lingers as pineapple, citrus, tea, and pine flavors wash over your mouth. Ever so slight hint of alcohol makes an appearance toward the end of the glass. Very good stuff.
