Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Sampled at Lupulin Slam III, 2006. Darker clear amber with an off-white head. Great piney grapefruit hop aroma. Flavor is a total blast of fresh, vibrant hops - just an attack of pine, grapefruit and caramel. Pleasantly sweet, plenty of bitterness but not overly bitter. Full, round and creamy with moderate carbonation. Really good stuff!

Bottle. Body-amber with a thick ring of bubbles and a thin film of bubbles. Nose-lots of big PNW hops, pine, clean citrus. Taste-cereal, fruity hops, very spicy, not too sweet, very fruity, light brown sugar. I am not a huge fan of hoppy beers, but I must say-this is as flawless as a DIPA can get. Not too bitter not too sweet solid malt backbone. Excellent.

Bottle # 167 Pours a dark golde/light brown. Aroma is . . . hops hops hops. Taste is.. well hoppy, but there is a full body behind it all, just before the hops kick in. A great beer.

Pours a golden amber color, small head. Aroma was fruity & hoppy, I love it. Flavor was nice and smooth, very hoppy, citrusy & fruity, with light carbonation. Goes down smooth with lots of flavor. A really great beer!

Bottle. Cloudy orangey-brown with a thick white head. Wonderfully intense hops aroma, very sweet and bitter. Rich hops taste with hints of citrus and pine that holds its bitterness nicely. Wonderful Double IPA for hops lovers.

Homegrown Hop 15 on tap at Lost Abbey for the Saints and Sinners party. Very bitter aroma, of pine hops and grass. Huge, bitter, hops taste, very grassy and herbal, with pine and citrus. Still awesome.

Deep amber pour with a big, thick off-white head. Huge hop and spice aroma, with a little citrus. Flavor is huge as well with the hops dominating. Nice crisp finish. Excellent stuff.
