Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

On tap at the Liar's Club. I've had quite a few of the highest rated Imperial/Double IPA's on this site, and for me this one definitely has one of the most interesting hop profiles. There is almost no bitterness on the palate until quite a long time, and the hops are very pine, citrus based. The body is sweet and hints of bubble gum arrive. Enough malt to make it interesting...a very nice offering by Port.

750ml Bottle #123 Courtesy of Darkelf. Dark and murky looky burnt orange in color with a massive head. Floral and fruity hop aromas fill the air as I pour. Aroma reminds me of Hog Heaven or a young Bigfoot with its rich hops and malt profiles. Some vanilla in the aroma is detected, light alcohol and tons of wonderful hops. Body is medium to full and smooth, oily, sticks to your mouth. Flavor is like a hoppy BW in my opinion. There are several Imperial IPA’s which border being a BW and this is one. Super hoppy in flavor with a sharp bitter attack that lingers in an almost numbing effect. Also a huge amount of malt creating some caramel and vanilla notes. This is one super-charged brew! Alcohol although fairly well disguised is definitely kicking in and warming me up. Overall this is one sick brew! Thanks Stephen for a super trade!!

Draft at O’Briens, yee ha! Hazy amber with a creamy white head that lingers and leaves amazing glass coating lacing. Wow, nice sweet, rich malts, wonderful hoppiness with lots of grapefruit and pine. Flavor is delicious! Lots of sweet, thick maltiness and hoppy, hoppy, hoppy. Palate is thick and smooth. Wonderful double IPA, another winner from Pizza Port!

Huge props to Eyedrinkale, who included this as a BONUS bottle in a trade. What a treat! Bottle #370. Poured a ruby red grapefruit color, just a trace of a head. The aroma was obvious before my nose got anywhere close to the glass. Grapefruit initially, followed by apple pie, then spruce. The initial bitterness is almost overwhelming, like sucking on aspirin. But as my tongue was beaten into submission, layers of complex hop flavors emerged; grapefruit, earth, and above all else, pine. This is surprisingly malty, but there is no doubt about it, this is one of the most intensely hopped beers I've ever encountered, in the same realm as the 120 minute, minus the ethanol burn. Quite interesting, but not for the faint-hearted.

Deep red-brown hue is slightly murky. HUGE creamy tan head. Big meaty hop aroma. Orange, lemon, grapefruit, pine, spruce. Just...yes. Nice bread and biscuit background. White grapes, dough, peaches. Very good. Heavily sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter flavor. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter finish. Delicious. Medium-full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. *happy* Fnord!

From AlohaC, as a freaking gift. Thanks again to you Christian. Pours a murky, unfiltered looking brew. This was a marvelois beer. Loads of tropical fruit, mango and kiwi, mixed with a massive dose of resiny hoppy goodness. This was the kind of beer that I found my self staring at the glass after every sip.
