| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2007 My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev -- courtesy of toncatcher. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size white head. Aroma: Oh yeah baby, that’s very nice! Lots and lots of hops -- a wonderful medley of them (pine, citrus, spicy etc.) -- nicely backed by sweet malt, it’s simple but lovely. Flavour: If you love hops (like me!) then this beer is for you! Once again, pine, citrus and more, backed by sweet malt and with a long bitter finish. Alcohol’s very well hidden for a 10.5% beer. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Fantastic, I LOVE it! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2005 Deep crimson pour with healthy off white head. Deep hop aroma, with notes of rose petals, sour grapefruit, pine, grass and lemon zest. Some sweet malts come out in the body, but the hops easily overpower. Semi-sweet chocolate and some spice should be noted. Hoppy as hell, with a great drinkability and nice mouthfeel. Suprisingly little bitter in the finish - it is more sweet. Hopy and more hoppy pine needles aroma with hints of grapefruit. Sweet malty and very hoppy bitter flavor with hints of pine needles and grapefruit. Malty finish with a long bitter burning aftertaste. Very nice. mrhoppy (224), Santa Clara, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Nice Hoppy nose but not over the top. Probably because their was virtually no head to lift it out of the glass. Alcohol hits you right away. Big bitter hop bomb. Heavy duty Pine with toasty coconut finish. I thought I would like this more being from Port. The sweetness if there is any is buried by copious amounts of big green hops. Definitely not balanced. If you want to be slapped in the face with hops this beer is for you. i understand what they were trying to accomplish with this beer. They said OK you want hops! We’ll give you hops! They did! By the time you get to the bottom of you glass nothing matters and your hooked. SuIIy (1487), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Feb 14, 2006 EBF. Pours a cloudy dark orange color with a white fizzy head. Nose is sugary sweetness, lots of citrusy notes, and hops. Flavors of fresh hops leap onto the tongue as the citrus explosion begins. A malt texture and character follow up to soothe the tongue from its hop lashing. The palate is lightly fizzy and playful, but with a hidden syrupy smoothness. Finishes lightly bitter and refreshing. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2005 750 ml Bottle #10 from Foolish Mortal. The beer and aroma came alive during the pour with an overwhelming bouguet of hops. The head was abundant, off white, and moved like Jell-o when agitated. Burnt amber in colour and fairly clear with active carbonation, and clinic lacing. It was surprisingly sweet initially, changing to a heavy, lasting bitter aftertaste. The beer tastes balanced initially, but has the distinct bitter aftertaste you’d expect. The beer was like a vertical tasting in itself, with different hops apparant in every sip throughout the entire beer. Definately worth a try for hopheads. Dmalone102 (221), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Beautiful. I bought a bomber at Arrow Liquormart in Littleton, CO. It has a darkish orange to light amber color, I dig the darker IPA’s. The aroma is amazing, very citrusy. The taste starts out with some sweetness and hop flavor from late or dry hopping, and then it progresses to bitterness... It’s a fun ride! You can tell that it’s continualy hopped, the hop flavor is so complex. It melds really well with the malt, which is discernable but not overbearing. For a double IPA, this has a great balance. Buy it.
