Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Solana Beach. Beautiful complex aroma of hops; floral, with pine, light resin, and over underlying sweet malt. Appears a red-orange mahogany color with a good head and no effervescence. Flavor is big and warm, with grapefruit, residual sweetness, and some passionfruit. Palate is thick and enveloping, bringing out the passionfruit very well. Overall, this is a spectacular brew.

Bottom of the bottle. Poured murky brown with a white ring. Pine and grapefruit on the nose. Flavor starts sweet with a quick shot of pineapple then becomes extremely complex with a lot of pine, citrus, grass, perfume, malts, and spices. The finish is all grapefruit flavored w/o the extreme tartness. A most incredible IIPA!!

Bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!). Labeled hand bottle #183. Poured a dark copper/mahogany color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, flowers, oranges with nice malts in the back ground. Tastes of grapefruit, pine, oranges, caramel, and with some biscuit. Perfectly balanced tastes. Light alcohol in the finish. Gave me a couple of nice hop burps. Definitely reminded me why IIPAs are my favorite style.

On tap at Toronado. Dark orange brown color, very clear and no carbonation bubbles, overall not a fantasic appearance. Typical citrus/pine hop aroma, again nothing special. Then the taste.....wow. Extremely clean and crisp, zero alcohol. Very well balanced with semi oily mouthfeel and both bracing bitter, almost harsh hop finish and a nice malt backbone. The beer travels all over the tongue -- smoother, more balanced, more refined than Pliny the Younger, my other top rated IIPA. A total wow experience.

On tap at the Solano beach location. First beer I tasted in 2 weeks, so it was positively fantastic. I would have had a few more, but had to drive. Really well balanced hop, great aftertaste, nearly peach like afterwards. I need to plan another trip down there with someone else driving!

Picked up a case of the first bottling June 15 at Port Brewing (only available in bottle during the summer). Deep amber color with a rich white head. Aroma is hoppy citrus, pineapple and kiwi mingled with maltiness. Thick and flavorful -- hops hit you up front and finishes with a fruit sweetness. One of my favorite IPAs -- only drawback is that 10% ABV limits my ability to drink more.

Amazing beer. Tastes of very citrusy grapefruit and massive hops. Notes of pine, spices are also detected. This has got to be one of my favorite beers. Very well hidden 10.5% abv! amazing.

22oz bottle. Cloudy copper/amber pour with a thin off-white head. Very crisp hop aroma with a bit of malt. Incredibly citrusy hop flavor with malt and some alcohol in the finish. I expected this to be good, but it was incredible.
