Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

On tap (San Clemente). Nice, clear dark amber with a fine, creamy head. Nose is ultra hoppy with candy sugar and nice citrus notes. Flavor is huge and floral with massive bitterness from start to finish. Mouthfeel is bubbly and crisp with an alcohol bite, nice and refreshing (and fairly drinkable) for such a high alcohol content.

Bottle sampled at stateline. Pours a hazy copper color with a nice off-white head. Aroma of malt sweetness, citrus, pine, and some grapefruit. Flavor is full bodied and moderately sweet with caramel, grapefruit, and notes of pineapple with a clean and dry finish. An excellent imp/double ipa . Thank burt

Poured reddish brown with very thin offwhite head. Aroma is piney/resiny citrus hops. The aroma is outstanding. The flavor is citrusy and bitter. Some malt charater adds a little balance, but this brew is HOPPY. Nice bitter finish with a touch of sweetness to the end. Excellent.

Bottle purchased at Capone’s and shared with illinismitty at the bar-AND at the end of of the night. My notes are not very good, and that’s too bad because it I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a golden amber with nice white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine. Medium bodied bordering on a sticky texture. I get a rich toffee like malt backbone countered by piney hops, and perhaps a very faint hint of smoke esters. Nice amount of balancing sweetness. Long enjoyable, lip smacking bitter finish.

pours hazy copper. aroma is hoppy with grapefruit, tangerine, pine resin, and some dark crystal. taste is grapefruit zest and tangerine citrus with resin and dank natures. there is a supporting dark crystal malt but is a showcase hop. finish is fantastically bitter that is grapefruit rindy.

I had this at the Solana Beach back in June 2006. There is no whay this is a Double IPA. This goes down more like a hopped up Quaddruple. Thos beer is very very strong. One pint will keep you warm! Sure there is enough hops to make a years worth of any other IPA. bu t it is just too strong to not be a Quad! This is just a really sweet beer that thankfully is balanced out with a sick amount of hops.

served cold from 22 oz. bottle. pours a nice amber/orange color with a quickly diminishing off-white head. good lacing. the aroma is all pine with some notes of different fruits. great body, citrus flavors and a sweet finish to counterbalance the bitter hops. for a beer with over 10% abv, there is almost no alcohol flavor, making it a great and easily drinkable imperial ipa.
