Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Thanks ogglethorp. Beautiful orange pour, frothy white head with a tinge of orange-ness to it. Fragrant bouquet of pine and citrus, and pleasantly following through on flavor. Beer was intense, but very well-balanced. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Would have only been better if it had been named the Pen 15.

22oz bottle, WOw, this is great.. drinkable , dangerously so too, 10.0% on the bottle, thin head but has some taste that just puts this one perfectly, its perhaps a type of hop that is great, and this one works.. my west coast choice for Double Simcoe.

Bottle purchased at the brewery. Pours a golden orange and very hazy. Smell is of course dominated by hops. Spicy, earthy and citrus hops are up front. A light sweetness is also there. First taste is pure bitter citrus piney hops. Nice sweet malty backbone holds it’s own against the hops. A little bit of a burn from the alcohol is there but does not distract from the taste. Nice light carbonation helps this one go down smooth. I love a non-filtered bottle conditioned DIPA. Not a session beer as it will wreck you palate and more then one will put a hurting on you. A great beer from Tomme and the gang at LA/PB.

Tap @ Publick House, Brookline, Mass. Pours golden-orange with a fluffy and lingering white head. Aroma is citrus hops with a little malt and caramel thrown in for good measure. Taste is malt and citrus with a hop bitterness so wonderfully typical of West Coast IPA’s. Mouthfeel is much more creamy than your average IPA, but I won’t complain about that.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper with small off-white head, lacing. Nose has pungent passionfruit, fresh oranges, lemon peel, mild pineyness and a bit of honey. Aroma is really robust, filling up the nostrils. Flavor is lightly sweet, toffee, hints of soil/earth, mild pine and light bitterness. Lingering moderate bitterness and resiny oiliness in the finish.

Wow what a great IIPA! I don’t know how the west coast does it, but damn is this a great and drinkable beer. Aroma was nice. Strong pine and citrus hops. Don’t get enough of the piney hops here in the northeast. Pour was a nice medium amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was a hop bomb that expertly balances just enough caramel and dark malt to keep it drinkable. The hops varied from citrus to pine needles, but dried the mouth out and left a strong bitterness on the tonsils. Outstanding beer.

served cold from 22 oz. bottle. pours a nice amber/orange color with a quickly diminishing off-white head. good lacing. the aroma is all pine with some notes of different fruits. great body, citrus flavors and a sweet finish to counterbalance the bitter hops. for a beer with over 10% abv, there is almost no alcohol flavor, making it a great and easily drinkable imperial ipa.
