Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

So delicious! Loads of hops, a big amber color and a lasting fluffy head. Aroma is sweet, caramel and grapefruit. Flavour has a bit more bite than most double IPAs. It isn’t as smooth as a few others I’ve tried. Very sweet, almost sticky syrupy, on the palet with a harsh bitterness in the finish. A lovely brew.

Duane shared a bottle of this. Thanks! Dark orange pour with an off-white head. Strong grapefruit and pine hop aroma. Some sweet caramel malt, but flavor is dominated by more citrusy hops. Resinous, somewhat sticky finish. Tasty brew!

I really like this beer. Very hoppy all around but the malt is always there too. Very balanced and the alcohol is hidden extremely well. The hop flavors and aromas are the typical citrus and pine with a slight touch of herbs and earthiness. Very good and makes a very interesting black and tan with Old Viscosity.

On tap, Porter’s Pub @ UCSD. golden with almost no head. Aroma was standard IPA fair citrus an pine. Flavor was big and hoppy but with a decent amount of malt. It was hard to isolate anything else in this beer, it was really just a profund experiencevery smooth, very complete. I couldn’t tell it was 10%, I would have guessed 7-8%.

Bottle purchased at Capone’s and shared with Ty5592 at the bar- AND at the end of of the night. My notes are not very good, and that’s too bad because it I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a golden amber with nice white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine. Medium bodied bordering on a sticky texture. I get a rich toffee like malt backbone countered by piney hops, and perhaps a very faint hint of smoke esters. Nice amount of balancing sweetness. Long enjoyable, lip smacking bitter finish.

GABF 06. Aroma is hoppy and sweet malt. Taste is sweet citrus hops, mango, etc, because of the amount of malt backbone on this beer. It seems to border on a barleywine, but still very enjoyable.

Draft at the Bistro’s 7th DIPA Fest: Nose of citrus and piney hops; hazy gold, small white head; Flavor piney, citrusy hop bitterness with a nice caramel malt balance fading to a citrusy hop finish

Pour is a cloudy dark orange/bronze color with little head. A very strong pine aroma that also has some tropical fruitiness to it’s but not overly done. Taste was hop resin, hops, and some citrus. A very enjoyable beer. Not quite blown away by the hops as some might have reviewed, but nice and hoppy just the same. Plus it’s got a nice kick at the end with a 9.5 ABV.
