Commercial Description:
First brewed in 2002 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the original Pizza Port location in Solana Beach, we searched high and low and combined 15 of our favorite hops which were added every 15 minutes to the boil. Somewhat darker than other Double IPA style beers, our beer oozes the hop goodness of pine needles, freshly squeezed citrus and ground spices which are only moderately tempered by a sweet malt finish. Thankfully, for all of us hopheads, we have decided to brew this beer more than once a year. Look for Hop 15 to make appearances from time to time when space permits us to brew this, one of our favorite ales.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy gold/orange with a very thin off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine and grapefruit. Flavor was well balanced between the malt and hops, with grapefruit and maybe apricots coming through. Medium/full body with moderate carbonation.

22oz bomber. Pours a deep dark honey color. Little to no head on this brew. Smells sweet with a hop spiciness in the background. Tastes hoppy, of course. Very hoppy, lots of hop bitterness. Grassy. Palate is thickish, with that great hoppy bitter pucker. The bitterness gets to you after a while. On Cask, 11/17/07 @ Churchhill’s. Pours a murky reddish brown color. Some floaters near the bottom. Foamy head with good retention. Caramelly hop smell. Caramelly and earthy hop flavor with a touch of sweet over ripe citrus. Alcohol on the finish. Thickish but smooth, with a bit of alcohol bite on the finish, very little carbonation. Good beer. Very different than what comes out of the bottle. Apparently Tomme sat on this cask for a bit. Probably would have been better fresh.

I am excited to get this in Chicago. Someone suggested this gave Pliny a run for its money. No, that’s not close. However, it pours a deep amber with a light, off white head. Aroma is spicey, citrusy, with sweet malt and a sugar cookie backbone. Flavor is bitter, with orange rinds mixed into a pastry sweet malt. Very bitter finish. But not unbelievable bitter. No sense of alcohol at all in the beer. This is an Awesome double IPA.

[Bottle] - Sipped with MatSciGuy courtesy of taverner - thanks man! We’ve enjoyed these. Deep orange color - fine bubbles on a light head. Not too sticky on the glass. Great citrusy hop aroma - strong but not overpowering. A dry-ish beer with a smooth mouthfeel with a little grassy/fresh hoppiness to the flavor.

Bottle. Big thanks to rustychiles for bonusing me this one! Dark amber/orange, opaque pour with little head. Aroma of hops; mostly citrusy, though some pine is in there as well. Great flavor! Loads of hops; lots of citrus and pine notes, but all very well balanced by some sweet malt goodness! Gonna have to get my hands on more of this!

A gift from sparky! Nice orange color, small head. Aroma is sweet, citrus, pine hops. Taste just like it smells. Pine and little sweetness hinden among the bitterness. Good medium texture. Every thing about this beer is solid. Great beer, thanks again eric!

Hazy orange pour with slight head that leaves nice lacing. Grapefruit hop aromas, sweet and resinous. Very well hopped flavor, resinous, earthy. Excellent
