Foolish_Mortal (936), San Diego, California, USA Jul 14, 2005 From notes. Slightly hazy yellow gold with a medium sized foamy white head. Liquid Simcoe juice aroma. Big resinous and citrus Simcoe character somewhat balanced by a hefty dose of syrupy malt. Finish is a residual astringency that coats the mouth. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth for the alcohol content, fades to astringency. Sick_boy282 (1074), San Diego, California, USA May 31, 2005 Poursa cloudy golden hue with a light white head. Aromas of resinous weed, pine... Flavors of honey, pine, a little doughy with a nice bitterness. Jayb0 (685), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA May 11, 2005 I’d say the major difference between the wipe out and this, single hop variety, IPA, is that you get a much drier, somewhat more refined ale here. Leaves you wanting that next sip. steview (737), Oceanside, California, USA May 9, 2005 on tap, and with my pizza / an IPA--yeaup! i can smell those green hops. simple, green, hops. mmm, mmm... Simcoe! / slight pine, leafy hops, herbs, a bit citrus, creamy, and smooth. DarkElf (2627), La Jolla, California, USA May 8, 2005 (Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) Grapefruit flavor of hops is very spunky, fairly bitter, but not over the top. Moderate sweetness and mild maltiness provides a nice base to showcase the Simcoe hops. Advertised as 7-8% ABV, and it’s well-hidden. Moderate aroma of grapefruit. Clean, crisp palate, medium bodied. Dark golden in color, with a slight haze. Off-white head is on the small side and fades to a thin halo surrounding a few wisps. Very delicate, ringed lacing adorns the glass. I really like this Simcoe hopped IPA. This is the second or third beer I’ve liked that was 100% Simcoe, so I think I really enjoy this type of hops.
