Thanks to the Cougar for driving this gem up from Atlanta. After having the regular Le Woody a few months ago, this has been one of the beers I’ve been wanting to get my hands on. I was suprised to find that I did not like much more than the regular version - it is a tossup as to which one is better. As a result it gets the same score. I would not turn down either one if you offered.

Aroma / Appearance - The dirty brown body looked a bit like muddy river water but smelled wonderful. The scent of sour cherries accented a vinous and tart aroma which was very inviting. It is definitely not for the faint of heart - if my sinuses were not clear before, they certainly were afterwards.

Flavor / Palate - A tart vinous mouthfeel not unlike cherry liquer filled my mouth from the first sip. Behind it was a woody backbone with a dry but sour aftertaste. Sadly before I had a chance to fully explore it my glass was empty but I did detect some oaky sweet tastes in my later sips. I’m not sure that this is one I could drink at any time but if I were in the mood, this would definitely be towards the top of my list.

Bottle, thanks CaptainCougar! Fruity cherries, toasted almonds, oak, vanilla, vinegar in the aroma. Lightly cloudy amber brown with a few floaties and a thin off-white head. Sour and sweet...what an amazing flavor combination. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, nutty cherries with a sour mid-palate and a slightly acidic finish.

Thanks Tom. The beer pours to nice hazy red orange body with a creamy white head. The body has some dark chunks in it. The aroma is nicely tart with cherries, light oak, sweet cherry gel. The flavor is sweet/sour red cherries with a nice tart brett and smooth oaken backbone. Strong acid and carbonation palate. Nice tartness and good texture. Similar to a La Folie.

Tap: Brown, light head and lacing. Nose of tart citric bacteria and hops/malt. Nice yeast and fruit, the flavor is tart yet balanced, nice sweetness and body contrasting wood and bacteria with a dusty, soapy finish.

Poured at Port Brewing Company. Clean aroma of dripping wet Rainer cherries over a bright, crisp acidity, shining in the noonday sun. Pour of heavily florid light mahogany, tawny with orange edges and rim of whitish. Flavor is an amazing amalgamation of tartness, wild woodiness and the sweet sugary skins of fresh cherries and their respective pits. I wish that I could have spent more time with this beer, but as a special treat presented by Tomme at the tasting bar, it was not possible. What I did gather from the beer was an incredible refined quality that held up there even with Alexander. However, I though that at times the acetic acid showed through a little heavy and washed things away, leaving me pining for the incredible cherry flavors that it dished up front. However, this is not to undermine the fact that this beer carries everything that it should as a Flemish Sour. Fantastic!

Thanks to egajdzis for opening this. Appears a hazy, orange toned brown with a small, off-white head that fades into a mild collar. Smell is oaky, with sour cherries, wild yeast, doughy bread, and light caramel. Taste is an acidic, sweet, vinous version of the mentioned aromas with the cherry flavor, wild tartness, and sweet caramel coming into full swing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, acidic, sour, and settling on the middle of the tongue before dying out into semi-dryness.

Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Great sour cherry aroma with a hint of vinegar and mild yeastiness. Pours a cloudy orangish-brown with a small off-white head. Starts with a quick hit of lightly sweet cherry that quickly turns to sour cherry. There are light hints of vinegar and yeast in the backgound. Mild woody finish. Outstanding!
