GABF 2008. Pours clear light yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, straw), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, pine, spruce), average yeast (sweat) with notes of apple, pear, and peach. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy acidity and bitterness.

The one beer on our sampler that I really wanted to keep drinking for the rest of our time there. This is a perfect example of a well crafted and balanced double IPA. Big and hoppy and bitter, yet balanced. Smooth drinkability, a friend of mine who was with me who normally drinks MGD claims it was one of his favorites. Bravo!

fantastic beer: huge aroma of an open bag of hops, and citrus--grapefruit; straw-gold body, fair carbonation, lasting white head; lightly creamy, smooth; very nice peach flavor, note of alcohol, interesting dryness, grassy bittersweet aftertaste.

On draft at PP Solana. Appearance is clear yellow/orange hue, minimal head and lacing. Smell is fairly hoppy, scents of grapefruit, lemon cleaner, and pine resin, some sweet bubblegum. Taste is initially dominated by bitter and sour citrus hops, transitions to sweet cotton candy, oily pine resin, and floral tones, finishes with sour lemon. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, smooth and oily texture, mild carbonation. Drinkability is moderate, this is a super sweet DIPA, the floral and citrus hops are a bit overwhelming, alcohol is muted, plenty of flavor but unbalanced for the style.

GABF 2007. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grass and grapefruit, and oranges. The flavor is very powerful with notes of grapefruit and grass as well as a light alcohol burn before a dry bitter and grassy finish sets in.

Hand bottle shared by the generous Tronraner. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. The aroma excites me right away. Lots of clean, cutting hops on this one. Oranges and grapefruit are up front but also some more exotic acidic tones provide a surprising fruit bouquet. The hops cut through the flavor nicely with a sweet, caramelly foundation. Hints at herbs and fruit are all over the place: orange, melon, weed, grapefruits, flowers. This is robust and well done. Exemplary west coast IIPA.

Handbottle, much thanks to wetherel. Shared with NachlamSie. Pours brilliant gold with off-white head. The aroma is a hefty dose of fruity hops-- orange, grapefruit, lime, papaya-- and some light, but sweet, honeyish malt. The flavor is much the same. Lots of citrus fruit hop flavors. The malt profile is something like toasted white bread, but mostly it’s orange, peach, lemon, tangerine, and pine. The bitterness is moderate, but enough to keep it crisp. The finish is a bit rosy and floral, but is mostly a fruity sweetness with just a hint of acidity. Smooth bitterness lingers in the aftertaste, as do some of the fruit notes. This is just how I like my IIPAs. Good stuff.
