Sweaty, hempy, orangey hops in the nose. Lightly sweet and very aromatic hop aroma. Nice. Transparent light copper-golden color with a large frothy off-yellow head. Great lacing, but a little light in color for an IIPA. The head and lacing is what prevents this from being a 3 in appearance. Creamy, orangey, hempy hoppiness to start, which then becomes very malty and lightly sweet. Middle is nice and chewy on this beer. Finishes pretty dry and bitter with more grapefruit hops. Very well-balanced. Nice, smooth, hoppy IIPA with no ethanol presence. Really solid and enjoyable. Sammy (4013), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

C-hop clear aroma. White head. Good creamy taste and full hop mouthfeel. Lace in glass. All you expect from this style, but Pliny the Elder wins side-by-side.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 8, 2006 On cask, Solana Beach location. Pours a very hazy gold with a one finger bright white creamy head with amazing retention. Aroma is wonderfully soft and floral, with some grapefruity notes. Great bready and doughy malt base. Lighter notes of orange. Flavor is just extremely smooth. Great soft hoppiness with no bitterness save for a light finishing citric bitterness. The malt was as light and bready as the aroma suggested. Absolutely no alcohol at all in the flavor. Mouthfeel is soft and well rounded with perfect cask conditioned minimal carbonation. Very creamy in texture. Quite possibly the perfect beer for that day sitting on an outside porch patio in November while wearing shorts. California in great! I could have sat there all afternoon just drinking this beer. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 28, 2006 Updated: Oct 30, 2006This one screams S. Cali brew scene. Chill hazed golden amber, thick creamy white head. Nose was like a freshly crushed hop field dropped into my pint glass. Flavor was full of fresh hop bitterness with razor sharp tones of peached pine and grapefruit. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, super dry, bitter finish. THIS is why I come to S. California... patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2006 draft at Solona - Smells intensely of hops (well duh) with pine and citrus notes. It has a lingering medium head with excellent lacing. The flavor is of course very hoppy with the malt not quite keeping up, balance wise. It’s close though and the full body with a lingering bitterness of really good hops makes up for it. Well done. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Except it won’t get you high, it’ll get you plastered. I should know. I am a millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht. Seriously good IIPA. Love it.
