Haslinger (546), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Tap at Pizza Port-Carlsbad. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma of Roasted Malt and coffee. The roasted malt is very prevalent, dark coffee taste, chocolate, Smooth but creamy mouthfeel. A bit of malt in the aftertaste with some smoke. Would buy again
paytoplay (56), , California, USA Sep 12, 2008 I was impreed with this brew on tap at Hamiltons in San Diego. Dark rich, a bit of alc on the finish. Lots of dark roast coffee and coco. Not as smooth as some others but a rare brew to make it out of an actual Pizza Port facility and be at another brew pub. Quality is very high and a good effort was put forward. Carbination was also high which aided in cleaning up the dark richness but maybe too much? alexanderj (1338), San Diego, California, USA Sep 8, 2008 Draft at PP Carlsbad; poured a black color with a dense, light brown head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Smooth, roasted malt flavor with woody and earthy tones. A good amount of bitterness and very floral in the finish. Definitely more of an Imperial Stout than the Sticky Stout in my opinion. hopscotch (4579), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 Draft... RBSG ‘08... Pitch black with a small, creamy, light brown head. Great retention. Molasses, espresso and dark chocolate dominate the nose. Full-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Intense, burnt, bitter flavor. Decent chocolate malt sweetness alongside notes of charcoal, tobacco and incredible bitterness. Charred, bitter finish. jsh12bama (227), Alabama, USA Aug 18, 2008 Draft @ Carlsbad. Pours black with thick tan head. Huge coffee and chocolate aroma. Roasted malt also present. Medium mouthfeel. DA (2468), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 16, 2008 RBSG 2008. Poured from the Hoff tap. Black with a smooth khaki head. Very roasty coffee nose, slightly burnt flavors coming through. Warm burnt chocolate up front, soft cherry notes towards the finish. Still a bit boozy which seemed to break up the smoothness of the palate.
