On tap at the Blue Palms in LA. This was a really delicious beer. Pours deep dark brown. Aroma is lovely, full of yeast, banana, roasted malts, caramel, sweet chocolate. Taste much the same, yeast, bread, sweet fruit (but not overly sweet-just right), banana, caramel, brown sugar. Can taste hints of alcohol too. Really great beer, wish it were available locally.

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Clear dark orangish brown in color with a small beige head. Aroma is somewhat yeasty with banana, clove, caramel. Flavor is very nice and balanced with wheat, yeast, and caramel along with strong banana and clove as well as a bit of chocolate-covered raisin. Medium body with somewhat lively carbonation. Overall a very solid weizenbock, not too unlike Schneider Aventinus.

On tap at PP Carlsbad a few weeks back. Color was dark brown. Aroma of banana, cocoa, yeast and caramel. Flavor was good; wheaty, banana, cocoa, and a bit sweet. Sugary and alcohol notes as well.

On tap @ Carlsbad. Deep copper brown with a small beige head, fair retention. Toast, banana, and dark fruits (fairly sweet) up front with a hint of roast. Flavor is much sweeter with the addition of some grain. Finish is almost semi-dry due to the alcohol--otherwise too sweet! Light to moderate carbonation with afull syrupy body. Not that great of an interpretation of the style.

On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente, this dark brown pour has lots of sweet dark fruit flavors (plum etc). Very tasty.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours a dark nearly black color with little head. Nose is full of German malt and fruit - plum, date, dull apple. Flavor is much the same and features all the nose with that odd twang of a doppel bock. It was 8.5% when I had it and for some reason they gave me a full pint. I was crushed by their genius.

On tap at PIzza Port Carlsbad, 7/9/09. Pours a nice dark brown, little head, but good lacing. Has typical belgian yeasty funky smell, with bananas. Sweet banana and caramel flavor, then the bock finish.
