DarkElf (2627), La Jolla, California, USA Jul 2, 2005 (Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) I’m not a fan of witbier, but this is one I can really enjoy. Probably because it’s not a regular witbier, but a tripel-like beer with some witbier characteristics. Sweet, candi, coriander, spice and a light bitterness make up the flavor and nose of this concoction. Alcohol is there, but it doesn’t have a strong presence. Medium bodied with a fairly sticky palate. Hazy yellow in color. Whitish head fades to a sheen quickly, but leaves a dense curtain of lace that’s quite a marvel to look at. Solid beer that I wouldn’t hesitate to order again. DYCSoccer17 (2009), Davis, California, USA Apr 9, 2005 On tap at Carlsbad. Faint aroma, some sweet notes with banana and clove notes. Mildly astringent sour touches to start, turning very sweet and full of banana and cloves. Slightly peppery and spicy. A bit chewy for the style, but not too bad. SG (456), San Clemente, California, USA Apr 2, 2005 This beer has a very light yellow hue that is cloudy. Bubble gum, lemon flavor. Almost tastes like too much candi sugar was added to this one. Pleasant. Maybe a little to sweet for me. Slighty grainy flavored. Hairofthedog (416), San Diego, California, USA Mar 29, 2005 The aroma had lemony citrus notes, soury fermented fruit, wheat and flowers. The flavor had light fruit, lemons, and flowers. The beer poured a nice yellow color w/ thin lasting head and lacing. The mouthfeel was light and lightly carbonated.
