Commercial Description:
Cask, Regular;
We took our inspiration for this special ale from the towering spire of Salisbury’s 13th Century Cathedral which dominates Constable’s famous watermeadows and Sarum’s ancient barrows. Our number one selling Ale in the Plain Ales range is a bitter with just enough power and complexity to make it interesting and yet enough restraint and simplicity and an ABV of 4.0% making it an easy drinking beer for all occasions. A special blend of malts delivers an initial depth of flavour, closely followed by a delicate bitterness and hints of citrus and flora from the selected hops, with a rich copper colour and a complexity that avows its name this is an ale by which to be truly inspired.

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Amber with a thin, suddy, cream head; sweet biscuity aroma, reminding me of Custard Creams; soft, soapy texture, with a creamy malt flavour - reminding me of Ovaltine - perhaps I’m regressing to my childhood?; the finish is dry and lightly bitter. Very pleasant and rather unusual.

Cask-conditioned at the Old Stillage, Bristol 29/08/09. Deep amber in colour with a frothy white head. A malty session bitter, more biscuity than sweet, but with some fruit and a decent bitter finish. Good.

Cask conditioned at The Old Green Tree, Bath, Somerset. Brown amber with white head. Thinnish malty boys bitter, but with sessionable characteristics. Quite easy and light, just not Innspirational.
