500ml bottle shared with funkybrewster. Pours a slightly cloudy very dark red with a soda like tan fizzy head. Aroma of lots of wheat, some cola like sweetness, creamy banana. Flavor is quite round and sweet, distinctly creamy, cream of wheat and burnt sugars, tastes very similar to some of the weizen bock reduction glazes I’ve made, brown sugar, softer banana phenols play nicely off the alcohol, quicker finish. Sublimely rich without being overly sweet. Some tootsie-roll like chocolate appears as it warms, rich raisins and the finish definitely improves. Medium/full bodied, slightly syrupy but broken up but the corse larger sharp carbonation 3.5. Very drinkable and very good.

Thanks 17thfloor! Pours a deep dark reddish brown with a thick pillowy off white head. Aroma is strong on the spices and fruits. A lot of banana around a nice cinnamon and a very cake and sweet breadiness. Nice toasty wheat and blend of sweet and spicy. Flavor starts with a a sharp peppery spice before mellowing into a sugary fruit character. Some dark fruits like plum mixed with a clove spiciness round out the swallow that turns to a brooding bitterness along with yeast. Medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Hides the alcohol well. Good beer, I feel like it might be a bit spicy for my taste which takes away from the overall balance, but still tasty. Addition: 17thfloor making good points about the banana phenols providing good balance to the sweet character, I’ll add one for flavor :)

Bottle from the Binny’s in Willowbrook, IL: This poured a clear dark brown body with steady streams of bubbles rising from the bottom. The tan head started out tall and fizzy but soon reduced to a slender, creamy state. The aroma was wheat, brown sugar, and old bananas. The flavor was much the same but with a hint of clove and a stronger hint of alcohol. The finish was spicy and warm. Pretty decent.

500ml German style bottle. Dark brown color. Khaki colored head. Looks like a cola. Aroma of toasted wheat, caramelized sugars, some light toffee, and over ripened bananas. Yum, banana foster! Lots of fruit in the nose, some lemon, a touch of cloves. Very carbonated, lots of fizz. Nice fruit flavor, lots of caramelized sugar, some apple cider, vinous grapes, and a bit of fruity cola. My 100th German Rating.

500 ml. bottle. Pours a voluminous beige head which rapidly deflates into a thin layer, over a cloudy amber body (SRM 20) yeast sediment on the bottom of the glass....nose is light apple, pineapple, lemon, bit of clove.....taste is initially wheat, grass, then apple, lemon, cinnamon, clove....mouth feel is light carbonation small fizz. This is a very pleasant beer, somewhat lower in spice character than the best in this style.

Bottle enjoyed on the rooftop balcony high atop (fifth floor) of the City Vu hotel in downtown Holland, MI. Dark brown pour and moderate ecru head. Some wheat grassiness in the aroma along with some interesting spice notes...yeasty esters, cinnamon, herbal hoppiness. Flavors were bready, yeasty, spicy (cola, cinnamon, herbal hops). Somewhat thin-bodied, but not distrctingly so. Very nice brew.

Bottle. Moderate malt notes of dark bread, grain and nutty, light herbs for the hops, moderate dough and barnyard for the yeast, and background aromas of raisin, allspice, cola and a slight hint of vinegar. Head is large, fizzy, off-white, with virtually no lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear dark red/brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet, lightly acidic and a touch acetic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and a little sour. Palate is medium, creamy with carbonation between lively and fizzy and has a slightly sticky finish. A great balance between the sweet malt and the tart yeast.
