Smooth and malty, with honey notes, with crisp and spicy finish. Fairly bitter for a doppelbock. BeerFanDan17 (628), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2009 A nice smooth doppelbock. However, much lighter and less malty than the style calls for. Also a bit of grain and cereal in the palate. Tmoney99 (4794), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Good caramel toasted malt and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good balanced bittersweet malty flavor with a moderate smooth balanced finish of moderate to long duration.
Standout doppelbock. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA

The fruitiness of the yeast is unique, the alcohol content is a swift kick in the ass, and the flavor is perfect. jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Bottle. Gushed a bit. Copper orange color with a decent white head. Aroma is slightly spicey over lightly toasted malt. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt and enough noble type hop for spice and balance. Very pleasant and tasty. A bit astringent in the finish. Just a really good beer - and it’s a lager! WISEGUY572 (1251), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 19, 2008 One of the first beers I tasted at the Decatur Beer Festival this weekend and my palate was not yet jaded ... and yet ... I sensed almost nothing. Maybe a bock or a bock and a quarter, but not a double. Not dark enough or chocolate / espresso / burnt roast enough or malty enough and weird fruity flavors that were out of place in a Doppel. Drinkable, but disappointing for the style.
