Good weizen aroma. Lots of wheat, bubblegum, citrus, some banana, but also alcohol and a hint of hops as well as yeast. There is more yeast in the flavor, as well as sweet wheat and banana, and just a little alcohol. Not as awesome as their dunkler weizenbock, but still very good. Well carbonated, it exploded out of the bottle. It looks very nice with an opaque orange color and a tall but thin and quickly fading white head that leaves some lace on the glass.

16.9 oz. bottle, labeled “Plank Bavarian Heller Weizenbock.” Classic hefeweizen-like aroma of bubblegum, white grape juice, apple juice, banana, and white wine. There is a touch of vinegar in the smell, but it is not bad, nor does it suggest that the beer is spoiled. Pours a pale gold to blond with a touch of haze. I expected a greater yeast presence. Large amount of short-lasting, frothy, nearly white head made up of large, loose bubbles. The initial taste is surprisingly dry, almost sour. Cream, champagne, bubblegum, and banana bread flavors. The alcohol cuts right through the pale malts. Light to medium body. Very lively and frothy in the palate. Also soft and oily. I can’t decide whether I like or dislike the palate effects, so I’ll compromise by giving the palate a 3. Plank Bavarian Heller Weizenbock is a disappointing beer for me. The high ratings gave me hope, but it is a flawed and forgettable brew in my book.

Fizzy dark amber beer, with pretty much no head despite this - aroma of banana, wheat, rum, phenolic character, artificial cherry smells - very high carbonation in the mouth - strong banana and phenolic flavors - medium sweet, with some notes of bubblegum, cherries, wheat malt tartness - a bit spicy, especially in the throat and on the back of the tongue - some over ripe fruits become apparent late - a decent weizenbock.

500ml bottle. Brownish amber with a persistent off-white head. Fruity wheat aroma and a sweet banana caramel flavour. Smooth on the tongue and incredibly drinkable given the strength.

Bottle. Deep orange in color with a little off white head. Malty nutty caramel aroma. Banana and clove notes. Hoppy malty flavor. Earthy hoppy notes. Finish is spicy. Thin bodied. Drinkable.

Exceptional German-style beer and much needed after so many Belgians the night before in Atlanta Ale party! Good constrained bitterness finishing with a sweet wheat again and again. A delight for lunch, surprising 7.5%

Bottle. I’m liking this style more and more every time I try a new one. Pours bright, slightly cloudy orange with a big white head with excellent looking carbonation. Loads and loads of banana esters on the nose. Some spicy yeast (clove) and bubblegum as well, but the banana rises above all. Spicy, white pepper yeast on the tongue. Clove, baked sweet bread and apples on the tongue. Medium bodied with excellent carbonation. Very nice!
