The nose is of grapefruit and grass with a light cereal undertone. Light, almost creamy, and effervescent it finishes just slightly bitter. Strangely the nose and the flavor aren’t quite on the same page. Beginning with a sweet malt and finishing with a light but lively hop finish, this "amber" would please many APA fans. Overall, not bad. Skyview (4061), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2007 Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear burnt copper amber brew with a thick fast dissolving off-white head. Leave a fair lacing. Aroma of rye type grain, some hazelnuts, sourdough bread and sweet barley malt. Taste is complex with a clean dry malt flavor and a bitter hop finish. An average brew but better than the most macro beers. jcp23 (47), Duluth, Georgia, USA

Pours dead on, deep, actually classic amber color with requisite off-white head and no lacing. Very strongly aromatic, with sweet malt and caramel dominating. This one is all about the malt and it is quite flavorful, indeed. Sweet, smooth, rich and a bit creamy, this beer is a mouthful of flavor, like it or not. I like it. A little too sweet for me to have more than a couple, but that’s OK. This beer has the feel of something that had some thought, care, & technique put into it. Substantially better than expected. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Bottle from Hy-Vee poured into lager glass - Pours amber with a very minimal white head; Watery hops, light caramel, apple juice, and pale malts to the nose; Bland with really pale malt and some kind of funky tartness on the initial taste; Cardboard aftertaste; Wateriest body I’ve ever had; Very little carbonation; So blandly inoffensive that it’s offensive. This beer has no substance to it. Who drinks this swill? Strykzone (1485), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Sometimes you get a beer where the malt and hops flavors balance and work together to make a great beer. However, in this one those two seem to work against each other and that makes for a disappointing beer drinking experience. KAggie97 (2473), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Bottle. Pours a sexy amber with ample head and thick lacing around the glass. Aroma is wet hops and soggy leaves, with touch of honey in the background. Flavor is weak strawberry with roasted nuts. Watery mouthfeel. Not disgusting, but not worth selling your soul for, either. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Bottled. Poured a clear lighter orange with a short fizzy cap of beige head. The aroma found caramel sweetness along with dried fruits.. rather weak.
Flavor was rather bland with semi-sweet caramel and some lighter fruits at the base along with a mild earthy bitterness.. very faint hit of citrus on the tip of the tongue and in fleeting moments on the finish. Decent amount of carbonation and a dry feel to it. Rather blah, but certainly drinkable. crazydiamond (46), Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Beer is nice & clear and well (but not overly) carbonated. Has a nice, malty aroma. Color is more akin to a light brown ale, perhaps a bit too dark for an Amber. Flavor profile similar to a classic American Brown as well except it finishes dryer and cleaner as most lagers do. To me, lagering takes away from what might be a nice beer here, all complexity gone with that standard, smooth finish of a lager. To me, a smooth finish isn’t always desireable. But, I’m sitting in an airport waiting for a plane, so it’ll do....
