Popping the lid yields a yeasty beer aroma. It is darker than a yellow american beer and there is a froth on top. Pour reveals a dark cream soda appearance. There is no head except a ring around the side of the glass. Taste is medium strong with more malt than hops. An alcohol bite seems apparent. Good smooth carbonation which is almost creamy on the back of the tongue. Seems to be enjoyable and not too offensive, lacking excessive personality. Not quite as good as Dos Equis XX Amber but much better than Great Lakes Eliot Ness, Schell FireBrick, Saranac & Adirondack Amber. Finish is a little alky and there is a taste that lingers shortly which it is medium bitter. Littleboob (25), Greensburg, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 30, 2006 Pours deep coppery with an attractive 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, slight hops, some honey, and some cabernet and almonds. Tastes caramel malty up front, not too sweet, with some nutty and vinous fruit notes and some backup hops. I’d call this one good but not great. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2006 A pretty average beer. Pours a nice deep copper color with faint white head. The aroma was pretty light. Could not detect much except very faint malts. Flavor was a little better. I could taste some malts and mild hops. Actually it is pretty tasty. Seems like an all around good drinker. MattShizzle (385), Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Copper colored. Poured from a bottle. Head thins out quickly. Light caramel aroma. Easy drinking beer, somewhat thin, but somewhat expected given the style. Faint hops detected beneath the stronger malt backbone. Okay but nothing that floats my boat.
