Commercial Description:
A hand-crafted 100% barley malt lager, Point Classic Amber features a combination of Cluster, Cascade, Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops for a balanced and distinctive flavor. These ingredients, combined with a longer brewing and aging process, give Point Classic Amber a superior flavor and rich, amber color.

12 oz bottle imbibed through the service of a Gouden Carolus glass. Red-tinted medium amber, thinnish decaying head...thick caramel malt, honey and a bit of wet pine in the nose...pretty nondescript body except for some charred-smoky character in the middle, sweetish oranginess for a bit...very light, rather sweet all the way through.

Pours a reddish orange color, small whtie head. Aroma of fruity and spicy malt. Flavor is somewhat boring, a little hoppy kick at the end.

This one has that distinct Point smell that you smell in the flagship. Flavor is slightly sweet caramel with a little hop flavor to carry it. Not overly bitter or malty, just middle of the road. Very drinkable beer for the average beer drinker.

12 oz bottle: soggy malted aroma, light orangey colour…crisp flavour on a wet palate: bits of hops, orange juice, toasted malts, and grain. Another surprise from Point – these folks make decent, drinkable beer…

Another really good beer to come out of the point brewery. Slightly malty taste, very smooth.

GLBF bottle sample: Reddish brown, thin, watery. Smoket caramel nose, sour suggestions. Taste is thin, although the malts are roasty and caramelly in their thinness. Quite watery at the finish.

Clear, caramel coloration, a dark amber, with a nice, thick creamy off-white head. Aroma is, wel, too sweet and malty, with little balance, and an adjuct-y flintiness. Too much like the unpleasant swill smell I’ve tried to avoid throughout my beer drinking career. Slight hops and mineraly-ness, but it falls flat, and lays there like a stinker. Taste? there’s a malty feel, a caramel tone that swims around the palate, but it leaves as quick as it comes. Light body, short finish, little texture, too much carbonation at the front. Hollow, listless...a trace amount of flavor trickles back and flits down the throat, but it’s not a terribly happy sensation. This one’s definitely for the lower rung, and will impress only those with small reserves of taste and infinite tolerance for blandness.

2004 Autumn Brew Review: Brown Coloring. Some Malts and Hops. Not Great for the Style
