Commercial Description:
Point Einbock is an authentic Maibock Style Lager. There are many stories as to how Bock beers were named. Some assert the origins date back to the north-German town of Einbeck. Others maintain that "bock," the German word for "goat," relates to the "kick" of some bock beers. This seasonal Bock beer, offered only during the Spring, is hand-crafted utilizing the finest Munich and Vienna styles of specialty malts with a blend of Bavarian Hallertauer hops. With a German translation of "One-Bock," Point Einbock is one Bock you are sure to enjoy.

2009 Peoria International Beer Fest. Pours a clear orange color with low carbonation. Aroma is very sweet and carries a slightly nutty malt flavor with some Munich malt presence and a bland graininess as well. Flavor is moderately flavorful with some sweet caramel graininess and light fruity taste.

Pours a deep amber color with a thin white head. Medium body and sweet malty aroma. Tastes of malt, caramel and hops with sweet floral hints. Decent but not a great maibock.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear orange amber with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet, cloying corn with a faint bit of grassiness and caramel. Taste is sweet malts, syrupy peach and other fruits and a bitter finish. Medium bodied and sticky.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan color, light fluffy head. Sweet alcohol laced aroma, rather old school if you will. More smooth than the aroma would have me believe, relatively true to style. Cloying malt sweetness dominates. Lacks a little yeast depth, but overall a nice effort. A relatively sessionable, well balanced example.

Pours crisp and clear copper tinted amber with a 2 finger eggshell head that has good retention and leaves specks of lacing. Aroma is grainy malt, toast, caramel, grassy hops, straw. Flavor is heavy grain right away followed by, light caramel, toast, maple like sweetness, and a nice hop profile toward the end. Floral and spicy with a slight bitterness to the slightly sweet grainy finish. Body is medium to thin and a little oily, with a really good carbonation level. A pretty average heller. could use some more malt complexity and body.
