Poured a medium orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, honey sweetness, and toasted grains. Tastes of toasted caramel, some honey, and a little bready. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 29, 2008 Pours a transparent bright copper amber with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty, grainy German malts and some caramel toffee with a touch of lager yeast character. Body starts with good fullness and sweet malty notes balanced with a crisp noble hoppiness and some mild oxidation before a smooth, bittersweet finish. A pretty true to style and drinkable heller bock. JorisPPattyn (5176), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Good yellow-orange head over orange-foxy beer. Little chocolatey, point of ureum in the nose, whiff of hops, and precious little sugars for a Bock... Bit leafy, even grassy. Bitter chocolate, harsh hops dominate more chocolatey malts. Not very refined. Unripe banana peel, bit of orange flavour. Rainwater quality, soft water, but not watery; slick. Harsh-hoppy. No German Bock ever had half this amount of iso-alpha’s. Better choice of hops might have made this succeed on its own merits. Thanks to Dave A. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

Crisp, moderately hoppy, a bit sharp, but also very fresh and mildly sweet with a bit of honey flavor, just what you want in a maibock. It’s nothing great, but it’s nothing terrible either, and these days I’m in a maibock mood. Cornfield (4948), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2008 Pours a bright golden orange body with a sustained off-white head. Light aroma of sweet grainy malt, lightly toasted, and, alas, a splash of mineral water. The latter disappears from the flavor and is replaced by a moderate floral/grassy bitterness that keeps the sweet malts in check. Actually, a fairly decent drink if, perhaps, a bit lightweight for a bock.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Gold to amber color with a thin off-white head. Light aromas of caramel, soggy malt and touch of grass and dough. Fairly thin flavors of caramel and toasted malt. Some honey and dryness and a bit of bitterness. A bit thin. A starter bock for lager lovers. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 12, 2008 I assume that this one replaced the Spring Bock. Light copper body with a decent lasting slightly off white head. The aroma is caramel and some vanilla beans. There is also some light musty leather. The taste has some caramel and walnuts. A nice toasted bread crust finish is marred with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. This would be a nice, light bock, except for that chemical and alcohol finish. Still, it’s one of Point’s better beers.
